Bailey7878 Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 If it was up to the fan base Crean probably would've been gone sooner, like he should have been.Problem is if archie does not succeed fred will likely keep him on a few years too long as well.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk southernindianahoosier2 1 Quote
Bailey7878 Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 He would have been gone after the 10-11 season. Threw money at Brad Stevens and still gotten Cody Zeller. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appThat year was a disaster and should of been it for crean. It would have been it at some other schools.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk southernindianahoosier2 1 Quote

Honkyman Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 (edited) It is false to say no one was talking about Crean and Priller and the rest until I brought it up. I was responding to another in a series of rants about this topic. Hardly a day goes by when at least one person doesn't bring Priller and the others and go off on Crean up on this board and I let it go by. Instead, this time I expressed my opinion that getting Oladipo and Anunoby was worth a few misses. It brought out all the chronic Crean haters. Maybe I should have let it go by as I always have in the past but I didn't. That's the last time, however. My opinion on the subject, for what its worth, has been expressed. I would hope that the others on this subject also drop it but I'm not holding my breath. Edited March 29, 2019 by Honkyman Quote
Hillsdale87 Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 But, don't you understand, he's saying Tom Crean is irrelevant to what happened this year and what's going to happen next year. I don't understand why his name is even involved with this thread. I'm not trying to be an a-hole, I just see where Honkyman is coming from.Crean is responsible for the majority of this year's contributors. Sure Moore, Smith, and Al are technically Archie's recruits, but he took the job in March. It wasn't like he had a chance to recruit for that class and bring in top talent. Everybody was committed at that point, and even if a few top guys weren't, he didn't have a chance as he hadn't been recruiting them at Dayton. The talent in Archie's 2 classes is much higher than the Crean/Archie class. In all likelihood, that 2017 class would have been much better if he had been here longer. Based on his Indiana recruiting success, he probably would have gotten Wilkes. Nobody who's defending Archie is saying it's all Crean's fault. There's no way this team should have gone through a 1-12 stretch. But it's just not realistic to expect a quick turnaround when the top recruits are all freshmen and/or injured.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Honkyman Posted March 29, 2019 Posted March 29, 2019 Maybe with Clifton Moore leaving, Brunk makes some sense. We still need a shooter. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Achilles injuries take time to heal and its more of a two year injury to get back to 100%. The fact we didn't have another option there knowing this is on the staff for not bringing someone in...oh wait they brought in Fizner :) Fitzner averaged 5 PPG at St. Mary's. I wish I understood the high expectations, but I don't. I was far more disappointed with the complete lack of growth by Moore. Forrester was a freshman. Thompson was too, for all practical purposes. Moore showed nothing for a sophomore; and while I wish him well, we won't miss him. Hillsdale87, pumpfake, jonz44 and 2 others 5 Quote

Not always well; but he was far better in the minutes he played - especially defensively - than Moore would have been. There were expectations of him doing more than he did. Nick Z was a guard and played in someone else's system. Much different player. Apples and oranges. Quote

That is the perfect focus for a threat entitled "The Season Is Finally Over, Now Where Does This Program Go?" And, let's believe unsubstantiated rumors about having to keep Crean's recruits (even though Miller pushed one of them out of the program). How about a different angle? What should IU do to bring players into the program who can shoot 3-pointers at a respectable rate? I have to confess to feeling jealous watching Purdue hit 15 3-pointers last night on their way to the Elite 8. How do we get guys like Ryan Cline and Carson Edwards to come to IU? Should IU even be considering recruiting Joey Brunk when what we need most is shooters? Go to the HYPER. :) Napleshoosier 1 Quote
