New Helmet Rule Adopted for All Levels of Basketball

Basketball Manitoba today announced details on a new safety rule introduced for all levels of basketball effective immediately.  As of April 1, 2011, all players competing in a sanctioned school or club basketball game will be required to wear a CSA approved safety helmet.  An additional requirement for players under the age of 14 will see a full face mask attachment to the helmet.  This change comes after extensive  research on a recent spike in head related injuries.  Unlike when hockey introduced its helmet rule in 1979, there will not be a 'grandfathering' consideration allowing current players to opt out of the new requirement.  The change affects all levels of play including school, club, university and college basketball. Looking at the prediction thread, I'm surprised how many people think we're winning this game. Pardon scored at will in the last matchup; I'd guess tonight will be more of the same. Not sure how to feel about Green's absence. Man this season went off the rails fast.

Who knows, maybe the shorter rotation will be better for our team. The only thing I’m concerned about is foul trouble with our guards. Romeo can’t pick up 2 quick ones again.

side note, I’m going to be more level-headed tonight. Filling up the thread with negativity doesn’t do any good. We’ll see how it goes

Got a crock put full of chili that's been brewing all day. Got me a couple ice-cold beers. Am ready for some Hoosiers hoops. (Don't have a very good feeling about this one, though. Not only are we short-handed, but we are because a player, essentially, got booted from the team. This can bring the lads together or further their spiral. Based on what I've seen this season, my bet's on the latter. Hope I'm wrong, though ...)
