cthomas Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 The question now is do we beat the spread or do we fold. Quote
TXHoosierDaddy Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Also, why not hand the ball off once those last two series? I have been critical of the playcalling and not airing it out enough but Ramsey got banged up earlier and now is just lofting balls that are underthrown. Stevie Scott has 8 carries for 66 yards. Have to at least give him a carry or two on those series. Iugradman 1 Quote
TheWatShot Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 This is why we never beat OSU or Michigan. We get chances to make it interesting, and whoever is coaching the team makes a stupid decision that hurts later on. Iugradman 1 Quote

BGVille Hoosierfan Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Time to open up the playbook or put Penix in. Ramsey had been terrible this half. He's obviously banged up and is floating every pass. You're not going to win this game or give yourself a chance by playing it safe.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Iugradman 1 Quote

He actually made some great throws in the first half but he's been a dud this half. He is incapable of putting any zip on the ball over about 10 yards. Has nice touch but now he's just under throwing guys off his back foot. Every receiver has had to try to come back to the ball. Can't have it. Quote
TXHoosierDaddy Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 If only we could have Sudfeld with this group!! He had a great offense too but they defense always failed. This defense isnt great but its much improved from those days. I hope they start playing Penix more soon . Quote
biteoftheapple Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 I bet we never see penix again...unless injury occurs. Redshirt rule. Quote
cthomas Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 We miss the pick and then they score. How different this game could be if we just made the plays that were there for us. I guess that's the difference between top 10 teams and us. Iugradman and BGVille Hoosierfan 2 Quote

cthomas Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 As always happens, the depth issue shows up at the end of games. I don't know what OSU spends on its football program, but if we don't match that, we will never compete with programs like them. Iugradman 1 Quote

We don’t. IU grudgingly sports a football team because it has to in order to remain in the Big Ten conference. Is it that we can't or do we not have the will to do it. We hang our hat on basketball, but right now OSU is better in both sports. We need to decide who we are now, not 30 years ago, and who we want to be. If athletic excellence is our goal, then make that happen, whatever it takes. Iugradman 1 Quote

Do you attend BoT meetings and voice your frustrations with our athletics department? Or contact them in any way? We can whine and moan about about Glass and McRobbie all we want, but the board is the one that calls the shots. I'd have to think Buckner and Gonso are athletics friendly. You should lead grassroot campaigns to make sure we vote in athletically minded members. Quote
cthomas Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 (edited) I've been following IU football since 1958, and outside of a very few years, it has been painful. I've watched Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern, and others I can't recall go from horrible to conference title contenders, but outside of 1967, not us. It is embarrassing! Each year we talk about whether or not we can get to 6 wins. 6, really! It's embarrassing. We should not accept the results that we get year after year. I like Tom Allen, but how can you not have a real coaching search to fill a power 5 coaching vacancy. And how can we compete when we pay a ridiculously low amount for the position. If we are giving up on football, then fine, just admit that and move on. But I for one am tired of how we say one thing and then don't support it with the cash. Alcohol fueled rant, feel free to disregard! Edited October 7, 2018 by cthomas Josh and Iugradman 2 Quote

I have only been a fan since 2005 but have read about how little success we have had over the programs history. It's been brought up on here but even the bottom of the barrell schools in other conferences like Kansas, Wake Forest, Oregon State, Rutgers...have had some type of success over the last decade or two!! Tom Allen was a homerun hire defensive coordinator. However, we decided we weren't willing to step up and pay the market price for a good coach. When you don't do that and you are in the division we are in, not many people are going to line up for the job. it's a shame really. We have invested in baseball and some other sports recently....football has improved salary wise but its not enough! No excuse not to sack up and pay for what schools like Iowa, Minnesota, Maryland, Purdue have done. cthomas and Iugradman 2 Quote
