Class of '66 Old Fart Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 (edited) There are no NCAA defined Evaluation Periods in May but Nike and Adidas both have scheduled events. The following is kind of a where we are and where we're going for the remainder of this year's recruiting cycle. In the merry month of May, Nike has 2 events scheduled: May 11-13 and May 26-28. Adidas with a single event May 25-27. UA is idle until July. Because these events are not within a defined Evaluation Period, coaches are not permitted to attend. From the NCAA website: April 19 through July 5, 2018, is a Quiet Period with 4 exceptions: 1) April 20-22 Evaluation Period (for certified events only) - Over and Done 2) April 27-29 Evaluation Period (for certified events only) - Over and Done 3) NBA Draft Combine Evaluation Period (for combine only) 4) May 17-25 Dead Period July 6-31, is a Dead Period with 3 exceptions. 1) July 11-15 Evaluation Period 2) July 18-22 Evaluation Period 3) July 25-29 Evaluation Period QUIET PERIOD - During a quiet period, a college coach may only have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents on the college’s campus. A coach may not watch student-athletes compete (unless a competition occurs on the college’s campus) or visit their high schools. Coaches may write or telephone college-bound student-athletes or their parents during this time. EVALUATION PERIOD - During an evaluation period a college coach may watch college-bound student-athletes compete, visit their high schools, and write or telephone student-athletes or their parents. However, a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents off the college’s campus during an evaluation period. DEAD PERIOD - During a dead period a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents, and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high schools. Coaches may write and telephone student-athletes or their parents during a dead period. Several games haven't reported any numbers and several with only bare bones info. I'll continue to check throughout the morning and around noon I'll post whatever stats are available. I don't know if the delay in reporting has anything to do with the fact it's not an official Evaluation Period or it's just a lackluster effort. I've seen no further report on the extent of Drew Lowder's injury. Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted May 12, 2018 Author Posted May 12, 2018 There's an event taking placed in Minneapolis this weekend called Battle of the Lakes and the Adidas D1 Minnesota team that includes Matthew Hurt, Tyrell Terry and Zeke Nnaji are participating. This from earlier today. D1 Minnesota beats Beyond Ball 81-47. Zeke Nnaji with his customary workman effort scoring 22, Matthew Hurt had 18. 2019 PG Tyrell Terry! Such a slick ball handler. Creative passer. Can score too w jumper and coast to coast drives. Race Thompson is in the gym watching the D1 Minnesota team. Semifinal Game - D1 Minnesota 89 vs Team Rose 69 This Team Rose unit team has had a good amount of success of the adidas Gauntlet so far this spring; D1 Minnesota did not care. This Minnesota squad had been wrecking shop all weekend in front of its home crowd, and did not stop, even when the competition became stiffer. Matthew Hurt scored 25 points, and was certainly the best player in the gym. Tyrell Terry is otherworldly with his vision and passing, he makes this team go. Championship Game - D1 Minnesota 89 vs KC Spurs 69 Matthew Hurt is a future NBA player, and he was doing whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted against this talented KC Spurs squad. If I may take a moment and divulge: Hurt is the best high school player I’ve ever seen. The 6’9 wing torched the Spurs for 25 points, and his lean-back 3-ball up against the sidelines while fading out of bounds was the most impressive shot I saw in the tourney (what made it more enthralling that it was right in front of my eyes, like five feet away). Couple Hurt with Tyrell Terry, and you’ve maybe got the best duo in the Midwest, and probably one of the best in the country. ADDED INFO: Zeke Nnaji's numbers this spring for the adidas Gauntlet's top offensive team D1 Minnesota are striking: >130 ORtg on 24% usage, 68.4% eFG%, 11% & 18% reb, low TO% (per @OLAnalytics) No wonder the offers are flooding in.
