Brass Cannon Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 I was adament our defense was what was holding us back but clearly our D is our strength now. Moved up like 75 spots in kenpom in a few weeks. Gonna be exciting once we get personnel better suites for the D and can score the ball. ALASKA HOOSIER, HoosierAlex and 8bucks 3 Quote

Our defense will look infinitely better when we get the right personnel. Long wings like Smith, Anderson, and Hunter will help. The key is more athletic bigs like Thompson, Moore (with better understanding), and Forrester will add speed that Davis lacks. I believe Watford, Brooks, Jackson-Davis, and Igiehon would all fit into the scheme as well. It'll be fun to watch when we can consistently lock other teams down and frustrate them. Hoosierfan2017 Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 I really respect Davis for working his butt off this summer to get in shape, but he's limited athletically and doesn't really fit Archie's system, imo. I don't think it's a coincidence that the defense has looked much better since he went down. I think Clifton Moore is a player who will fit in well on defense once he gets acclimated to the college game. MemphisHoosier, thebigweave, VO5 and 1 other 4 Quote

We're able to get to the spot much more quickly and not have to make up for Davis on rolling back on defensive assignments. Like OP stated, it will look even better once Archie recruits players fitted for this defense. It's a proven defense, see Nova, Butler, Virginia, etc. MemphisHoosier, MoyeNeeded, GloryDays and 1 other 4 Quote
LamarCheeks Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Considering the title of this thread, I'm assuming there will be video or photographic evidence? Will you have it fried, roasted, grilled, fricasseed, baked? I think it's a tough bird, so the longer you cook it, the better! GloryDays and thebigweave 1 1 Quote

Walking Boot of Doom Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Might want to hold off on that crow dinner until we see how our defense performs in the next bunch of games. The defense in the Northwestern game was some of the best defense I've seen Indiana play in 8 years now, but NW has also been struggling. Still, the improvements over the course of the season are noticeable, and I'm optimistic. mdn82, coonhounds, ALASKA HOOSIER and 2 others 5 Quote

I like the way we are trending. If we took care of what we should have we have at least 3 less losses. We didn’t. We are most definitely improving as the season goes on.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app IUc106 and coonhounds 2 Quote
