Background story on Newman:

Small extract:

Last week, Valparaiso University became the sixth school to offer Newman a scholarship. Others are Indiana-Fort Wayne, IUPUI, Miami of Ohio, Toledo and North Dakota.

For Newman, who's averaging 25 points, 10 rebounds and two steals, that appears to just be the start. Xavier and Butler are watching closely. Purdue and Indiana have made contact.

Valparaiso‎ hit 11 shots from long distance in its 56-55 win over the Mustangs, winning five out of its last six games.

Down 55-53, Vikings junior Brandon Newman got a nice feed from fellow junior Colin Walls and hit a go-ahead three from the top of the key with 0:08.  Newman posted team highs of‎ 23 points and seven boards.

Valpo also won its Friday night game with a buzzer beater.

Fascinating. A kid putting up elite numbers for a tradition-rich 4A program, and basically no information out there on him. Videos, scouting reports, nothing. In this age how is that possible? Has anyone seen him? Is he any good? Or is he just compiling numbers on an otherwise bad team? Has anyone on here actually seen him?

He’s very good. He’s getting better extremely fast too. He’s high major material imho.
