rcbowla Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 I will be watching Furst on the 18th against my old HS. I'll give thoughts although they are playing a not so great 1A team in Adams Central so not sure how much can be taken from the game. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 Last night FW Blackhawk defeated Elkhart Christian Academy 99-54. 3 players for Blackhawk combined for 72 of the 99 pts. but I've not found any mention of Furst participating in the game. Further digging indicates he either didn't play at all or left in the 2nd Q due to an injury. Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 Blackhawk Christian's Caleb Furst is not playing in tonight's game against Woodlan. Furst has fingers on his right hand either heavily wrapped or casted after coming out of Friday night's win over Elkhart Christian early and scoreless. fwgreenway 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Furst did not play in tonight Blackhawk Christian's 83-71 win over Fort Wayne Canterbury due to his injured hand. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Furst missed another game last night due to injury. May return to action in 2 weeks at the North Daviess tournament which means he'll miss at least 2 more games before then. Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Looks like Furst is getting some priority viewing. 2021 is more interesting to me than 2020. Can’t get excited about 2020 for some reason. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Demo 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Last Saturday night FW Blackhawk crushed FW Concordia 87 - 51. Furst just 10 pts. as he was double teamed most of the game and as a result 4 other Blackhawk players also scored in double figures. WayneFleekHoosier and HoosierAloha 2 Quote
fwgreenway Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 FW Blackhawk (10-1) at Homestead (9-1) tonight. Won't be able to be at the game. Does anyone know if there is a stream for the game? HoosierAloha 1 Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 FW Blackhawk beaten by Homestead 51-44. My highly officially unofficial scorecard had Furst with 8 pts. on 3-8 FG; 2-2 FT; 5 reb; 2 assts; 2 TO; 2 blks. Blackhawk played man-to-man defense exclusively and Furst guarded Homestead's leading scorer (Goode) who averages 18 ppg. In the first half, Furst held him to 3 pts. but the game stream didn't provide any post-game stats. Most of the time Goode ranged around the 3-point line which kept Furst away from the basket most of the time while on defense. This was the first game I've actually seen Furst play and didn't realize he's a southpaw. LockdownD, fwgreenway and HoosierAloha 3 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Homestead always is a poor mans Carmel here in Fort Wayne. Similar schools in makeup and athletics. Not surprised by this result. Just goes to show that these 5 star recruits struggle to dominate even HS ball often times.Recent examples with TJD and Lander as well. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 As I mentioned in my earlier post, Furst had the assignment of guarding Homestead's leading scorer Luke Goode who averaged 18 ppg. In the first half Furst limited him to 3 points and for the game he only scored 11, 6 of which were 4th Q FTs so Furst demonstrated he knows how to play defense.
