Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 Homestead defeated Warsaw 70-51. Luke Goode with 21 pts. and 9 reb. Following are post-game quotes from the Warsaw coach: “He had a very efficient game,” Ogle said of Goode, Homestead’s standout quarterback who has visited Michigan State, among other Division I schools. “His rebounding was impressive tonight, just the way he competed. “The combination of Goode and Grinsfelder, their rebounding, they got 50 percent of their misses in the first half and that was one of our main concerns. We knew that if we didn’t rebound it was going to be tough. IUsafety and HoosierAloha 2 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Marion's defense kept Homestead and Luke Goode on their heels most of the night and came away with a 62-47 win. Unofficially, I had Goode with 13 pts. on 3-8 FG; 2-4 on 3s; 5-7 FT, 4 reb. He fouled out midway thru the 4th Q. IUsafety, Uspshoosier and WayneFleekHoosier 3 Quote

Popular Post RatpigHoosier Posted December 22, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 22, 2019 Anyone know anything about Gus Echtison from Hamilton Heights...I have watched a video of him and was impressed with his passing and athletic ability I went and watched him play Noblesville last night. It was a benefit night to honor his father who was killed in a farming accident this last summer. Tony Etchison had a lasting impact in both communities and the place was packed.Anyway, for a breakdown of Gus’s game, he plays much like I envision Luke Brown playing, although Ive never watched him. He is 6’ and 145. Skinny kid. He has excellent handles and can shoot, but not one of his jump shots came off an assist. He shot off the dribble and has a really smooth stroke. He appears very comfortable driving in the lane. NHS isn’t huge inside but they have a few 6’5” guys who can jump. Etchison was able to maneuver through there with not much difficulty and finished well. He would kick out often and he seems very unselfish. It was driving me nuts though because he was leaving his feet to throw passes constantly, but he was accurate with them. IMO he isn’t a B1G player. Too small. Driving in the lane at his size wouldn’t be good. I told my wife during the game that he clearly isn’t a great athlete in the classical sense, but you can tell the kid lives the game. He’s the prototypical gym rat. I could see him playing for the Sycamores, but that would be his high water mark. Possibly could play for one of the lower MAC teams. Keep in mind, I am far from a scout. I played the game and consider myself half-knowledgeable. I could be way off though. BTW he ended the game with 24 points. RatpigHoosier Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 And they played either a 3-2 or 2-3 zone for most of the game to mitigate their lack of size. I couldn’t get a gauge on his on-ball defensive skills but he didn’t stand out defensively the short time they were in man D. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 Jeff Rabjohns @JeffRabjohns Get to know him: Class of 2021 wing Louis Lesmond was watched recently by Indiana. http://Peegs.com also watched him over the holidays. What he showed, what impressed and an overall look at his game. 6'4" SG attending Notre Dame College Prep. He transferred to NDCP from Evanston this fall. Extract from the Chicago Sun-Times last June: He’s been among the City/Suburban Hoops Report’s top 10 prospects in the Class of 2021. Second, he leaves a highly successful program where he played a key role in helping Evanston to a state runner-up finish in Class 4A to another program stocked with talent. Lesmond joins a Notre Dame team that already features guard Anthony Sayles, one of the top 10 junior prospects in the state, and 6-6 Troy D’Amico, who is among the top 15 prospects in the Class of 2021. The highly versatile Lesmond offers physical tools, an appealing skill set and is clearly a rising talent. He’s a player who couples outside shooting with some legitimate and exciting long-term upside. Lesmond is gaining comfort and confidence since moving to the United States a year ago from France. At a shade over 6-5, Lesmond’s shooting touch and skill level is tangible. He can handle it and really shoot it with smooth, natural shooting mechanics, both with his pull-up mid-range game and three-point shooting. He showcased it all in three games at the Loyola Academy Super Shootout Tuesday night, including a rim-rattling dunk where his underrated athleticism and pop off the floor showed. Lesmond, who plays with the Illinois Wolves on the club circuit, is set to enhance his reputation with a big summer as one of the top half dozen 2021 prospects in the state in the City/Suburban Hoops Report’s class rankings. Look for the skilled wing to establish himself, open more eyes and garner high-major attention sooner than later. 247 Currently participating in the Wheeling (IL) Hardwood Classic and in their first game Notre Dame College Prep annihilated Mather 76-28. Lesmond led all scorers with 25. The event is the Wheeling Hardwood Classic. BtownStrength, Demo, HoosierHoops1 and 4 others 5 2 Quote
