I really think we should hold off on Phinisee for now. He's probably my least favorite out of the PG's we're recruiting. I just don't see him as a starting caliber player on a good team.

Yep, on a great team anyway. I could see it on a good team. I'd like more athleticism and size.

My thing on RP is he is no Yogi or Marcus Paige. When you are smaller that projection isn't there if you don't dominate. His best games he never dominates. He is inconsistent at best. Those really good PG from the last few years that were 6'0" or under took over games during AAU. They had at least one elite skill. RP while solid doesn't have that IT factor imo.

You have to be significantly more skilled than bigger players when you're that small.

I see the consensus is swaying away from Phinisee. I'll remain on board. He's important right now and this staff knows it.

You think the DeVoe stuff is to put pressure on Phinisee then?

I'm not sold on him but again, I'll trust the staff who've watched him plenty if that's what they decide to do.

I feel the same. You land Phinisee and you have your foundation set from 1-5 with this class and the last. Archie and staff can then start focusing on swinging for the fences. Go all in on the 5 star kids. If they miss, so what? The foundation is set and those ships can be used on the next class, where we have had a longer time to recruit top prospects.

My thing is, you watch DeVoe (for example) and he jumps off the screen with the type of plays he can make.

Phinisee doesn't have that type of skillset. But I'll trust staff if this is the direction they decide.

In college, the lead guard is so critical. Most great teams have excellent lead guards. I still have a hard time seeing that from Phinisee but he could grow into it, I suppose.

Phinisee is a pure PG. No more of this "can he handle the role" stuff with RJ/Cujo/DG. Phinisee is a PG in that he makes others better, you surround him with talent. He holds onto the ball. He leads the team on both ends. Controls the game.

Not his first year, that isn't what I'm claiming. But you swing for an elite PG still for next year. Phinisee logs minutes off the bench fresh and soph...his team junior/senior.

Devoe looks cool. So do a lot of combos. I've been trying to find a whole game but can't and the offer didn't make a ton of sense which was my questioning. He's athletic, he's 6'4...he's going to have some cool highlights. He handles it loose like most CG. Has some flashy passes. Idk, like I said I need more than highlights for a possible PG

Idk, could be legit interest going forward with Devoe. Corey Evans has also been a bit shotty in reporting lately. I think IU knows they're in good shape with RP

Staff in contact every other day. I would say unlike most on here the staff is far from swaying away

I can appreciate that.
Although, He isn't really an elite level passer or ball handler though.

He's an interesting recruit for sure.

I get a Frank Mason vibe with Phinisee and before you say I am crazy lol go watch Mason's HS tape. Nothing crazy but was always making winning plays. Athletic ability can only get ya so far. The intangibles are what set guys apart besides the Zion's of the world.
