This is a good article concerning the hiring of Archie. It kind of makes the flight aware stuff look silly. He met with IU officials in Atlanta and San Jose.

Awesome story. I am glad Archie told them before Alford said no to shut people up. The job was spoken for probably before then but I am glad we didnt just jump into it. We took our time made sure no one like Donovan would change his mind and got our guy. Woot woot

Gonna have to compete with the big dogs with recruiting. Izzo still carries more weight than Archie Miller. Crean thought Indiana would land him the 5 stars. It didn't quite work out like that.

The last couple of years our guys would work hard to get a guy and it would come down to us and a place like Michigan State, and (Tom) Izzo would end up getting them,” John Miller said. “And it wasn’t because the kid didn’t want to go to UD. It was like, ‘Hey, it’s Michigan State! It’s Izzo!’ And boom, we’d lose him because it was a bigger place.”

Ha, John Calipari had a say in us getting Archie Miller.

Yet another reason not to like this hire. The article in the Dayton paper quotes Archie's dad saying "Cal is a good family friend" :120:

Since Cal is a good family friend, maybe Archie could talk him into resuming our rivalry game.  Worth a shot.

If we're not in the elite 8 by year 6 , Glass and Miller can get Crean'd.

That sounds fair to me. Crean got 9, but had to take 2-3 just to clean the program up and get it back on its feet.

My first instinct, however, tells me the guy that coached Dayton to the elite 8, then to two tourney wins with no player over 6'6" (after he had a player die, two dismissed and a 4-star freshman miss 21 games) won't have that much trouble getting there.
