Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 His math may be off but he sure as hell ain't worth more then Izzo. And if Izzo was to leave or get an extension he would surpass those numbers. WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Are we still not understanding what search firms do?I do understand what they do. Multiple things they do. Fred Glass explicitly said no search firm during his PC. This changed a few days later.Makes complete sense when option 1 didn't go the way he thought, more "talks" needed done. I'm convinced Archie wasn't option 1. Glass said "he was on the short list early on". He could have said we got our guy or many other ways of phrasing it. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Quote

Milldawg12 Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Archie is under 40 years old and universally regarded as a budding superstar amongst his peers. Honestly ask yourself this question: Who has a higher ceiling in regards to recruiting? Gregg Marshall or Archie Miller.? woodenshoemanHoosierfan Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 We agree on this one. I never saw that happening, either. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersI was hoping, but wasn't convinced like so many on here. I think that's why some are not happy Archie is the coach.Sent from my SM-T377V using Tapatalk Quote
Stuhoo Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 couldn't care less what JBJ thinks. If he leaves now, he will officially be remembered as "Bracey Wright with bad knees." Tom White, Class of '66 Old Fart, thebigweave and 4 others 7 Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Who was your top target...one name1. Stevens2. Donovan3. Sean Miller4. Few5. Bennett5. Alford6. Marshall7. Probably Archie 7. But I don't think he is necessarily, without a doubt, currently better than Collins, White, Huggins, Martin, and a host of others. His age and family ties give hope. His results are pretty good. He's on the list. Of the "realistic"-whatever that means- list he is 2-4 for me. I like his youth a lot. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Josh and RedsIUfan 2 Quote

If timing was the reason we didn't get Donovan, then Glass blew it two years ago when he chose to keep a proven failure that's not wanted by any high major program now. I'm intrigued by Miller, but not overly excited. I want to be big-time. It pisses me off how the national media repeatedly scoffed at us for even thinking we could get an NBA coach. Miller may make us elite, but it's far less of a sure thing. Timing was the reason we didn't get Stevens, too. thebigweave 1 Quote
Walking Boot of Doom Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Does anyone remember how Marquette fans were after losing Crean? I went on a Dayton message board and they are completely devastated this happened. I don't remember that happening with Crean.Apparently they were excited to see him goSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app GoIU8 1 Quote

southernindianahoosier Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 My only issue with the hire is that we could have hired him back in 2014 when it was rumored Crean was leaving IU. Why'd we wait 2-3 years to get the same outcome? AZ Hoosier 1 Quote
Josh Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 I wasn't really old enough to be on boards when we hired Crean. What was the general feeling when we hired him?It was optimistic that we hired a coach with name recognition knowing the mess we were about to dive into. Nobody thought anybody with a job would take over the mess Quote

I haven't found one negative thing outside of this board. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Well, that's encouraging. I remember Marquette was glad Crean left. Archie wasn't my first choice, or even my second or third, but I will support him, and hope he brings IU basketball back to glory. Class of '66 Old Fart, mdn82 and thebigweave 3 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 I said one name...but your list explains your disappointment. You want me to name 1? Tony Bennett. I've said it all year long. Also, for ME, I'd have taken Alford. (Couldn't because 1/4 of IU fans hate him) but he would have been successful with the fanbase behind him. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Quote
