Hey guys, long time no complain here.

FWIW

Like it or not Alford is the front runner. Because:

Stevens- leaving the Celtics to coach IU would be like leaving Man U to manage Sporting Kansas City. Not happening.

Donovan - good hire but Glass mentioned knowing the state and recruiting the area. Donovan is an east coast guy. Can happen but reading between the lines doesn't have exactly what Glass is looking for.

Bennett - more likely but I hope not. Boring as crap to watch Virginia.

Marshall - verbally abusive version of Crean.

Sean Miller - ain't leaving Arizona for February in Bloomington. Has it made.

Archie Miller - will someone PLEASE explain the fascination with this guy. He doesn't even have the pedigree Crean had. This would be a huge disaster.

IMO that leaves Alford. I say hire him. I think he can do better at IU than he did at other places. HS and AAU coaches around the state are familiar with him. He understands the culture. Once again if you  read between the lines sounds like to me Glass was describing him. Is he the savior? Nope. Heck, he will be gone within 5 years, but I just cant handle another hot mid major guy. Alford is comfortable like an old pair of shoes.

Ok, destroy me now.

Maybe some of the posters here who know various HS coaches could ask them their opinions on some of these candidates.

I would be very interested in what impressions they have of these guys. What were their previous interactions with them like?

Donovan was a assistant at kentucky should have experience recruiting the area. To say Marshall is a verbally abusive version od crean isnt fair. Marshall and archie are twice the coach of crean imo. Alford will not be iu next coach he is to controversial imo.

I just keep holding on to something that happened early on. Donovan put his house up for sale in Florida about the time the rumor got going. HOPEFULLY this means Donovan is coming.

House went up fro sale on March 2nd, so it's probably just a coincidence.

I would not get my hopes up on Donovan. Everything he's said makes it seem like he's extremely happy where he is and dedicated to OKC.

Not really he left it very open ended when asked about the IU job

Sorry, but I have information that says that if this is only a coincidence it sure is one hell of a one.

It's called coachspeak..too many examples to post of-Coach says, "I love it here, not going anywhere".. to a week later.."I look forward to helping..insert new team name here.. contend for championships!"

It got listed on Feb 26th which was the same day that the Janitor and 0708 reported Crean was told he was done.
