Player and Recruit Retention News/Discussion & Potential Transfers

It'll be interesting to see what Moore can do with his minutes next year, because he just got more.

Hopefully Blackmon comes back, suspect defense and all.  We'll need his ability to stretch the defense.  I really want us to hit up the grad transfer market too for a big guy.  I'm not sure a rotation of Davis, Moore, McSwain, and Morgan will be enough to stay in the top 5 of the B1G and get a good tournament seed.

On that same note, I hope we see Morgan add some bulk and work on finishing around the rim this summer.  I still feel like he's more valuable to us in the paint than he is as a guard or a 3, and I thought Crean did too until this past year when he slimmed down and had him bringing the ball up the floor and initiating the offense.

There already isn't room on the roster for Blackmon, let alone a grad transfer. If Blackmon comes back, somebody else loses a scholarship or transfers. If Blackmon comes back and they add a grad transfer, two fellas lose scholarships or would have to transfer.

It all depends. There could be a transfer or two. We dont know yet because they are still in school. Let's say gelon and Jones leaves you then have an open slot.

I was being sarcastic.
Used to see players at Motleys, etc....a lot.
Also witnessed a few, not a lot, players smoking pungent smelling "tobacco" back in the day.
It happened.

Dakich had a beer gut.

We will be fine. Look at Wisconsin with the right coach you don't need superior talent.

THIS^ couldn't agree more.

Last season we had the talent where making the tournament shouldn't have even been a question but look what happened. Good or bad coaching can have a huge effect and I think Archie will have us dancing next year.

For me I look at a guy like Noah Vonleh for a comparison. They're both probably stretch 4's. Vonleh has the tools to be a perfect one. He's 6'9, with a 7'4 wingspan. He can shoot the ball pretty well, and he's very athletic, much more athletic than Bryant.  He was much better coming out of college than Bryant is right now into and he has struggled so far in his career. I just don't see TB having a career in the NBA, but I could be wrong.

Agree with you on Bryant. But like some say, time will tell us all

I think we still have more talent than Miller has ever had without TB coming back. That being said.. it is the B1G.

Need James to come back if we want to compete in the conference and in the dance. I see us top 6 in B1G.

"The chances of for both Blackmon and Johnson to come back are 50/50, a source told CBS Sports."

Huh, I'm assuming they mean the chances that both come back is 50/50, not that each decision is 50/50.

Honestly he wasn't bad last year the few times he got legitimate, non-mop up, minutes. He can set screens and knock down open shots. Maybe Archie will give him some playing time during the cupcake portion of the schedule to see what he can do.

I'm not sure what minutes you are talking about last year that were legitimate, non-mop up minutes.  The Purdue minutes were him just fouling and getting Purdue not guarding him on defense.

The Purdue game, and then Crean threw him in during the second half of the Northwestern game on senior night for a few minutes too. He wasn't sensational or anything but he wasn't a complete liability either. With us possibly being thin up front next year depending on Moore's development, if Priller can give a minute or two here and there it would be helpful.

He ended up with two minutes against NW.  If Priller is on the court, we are in trouble.

I got the feeling that RJ was so frustrated with his role on the team that I would have been shocked to see him return.  I remember seeing a picture of him coming out of a game to the sideline and having Coach Crean talk to him assuming about his play.  Robert couldn't/wouldn't look at the man.  He was over it.  Since a coaching change has come about, I could see Robert coming back after his NBA evaluation and being an impactful player under CAM.  Robert is a "no bs" kind of guy and I think he and CAM have a lot in common.

From what I've seen up to this point, I would rather have Morgan or Hartman at the 5 in a small ball lineup. They could stretch the floor and pull the opposing big away from the basket. Priller getting a few minutes here and there during games with a solid lead wouldn't be bad. I want to hear Priller's senior night speech. He should tell the story of doing 5 thugs at once!

Where would Johnson go?

I guess maybe grad transfer, but I remember reading someone say that he probably won't have enough credits to graduate this year.
