TOM CREAN FIRED

I'm watching this WSU vs Dayton game and seeing some really weird stuff! A couple of minutes ago? This guy didn't even have the ball and he ran along the baseline and then he kinda like curled around, and there was a guy there that he ran real close to and it kind of blocked his defender and then there was another teammate there that like did the same thing! It looked cool! We should do it and call it something like a double screen! But why do they move without the ball? And they seem to really want to stay with their man on defense! Weird! They try and Deny their man from getting the ball also! They don't do that little weave thing at the top of the key though? That's weird! Thought everyone did that!

I'm kinda mad because I had to call my dad to get him to watch this game. Cmon dad you gotta do your research. In his defense he's getting a little long in the tooth and probably couldn't give a poop. Haha

Very interesting article from the Indianapolis Business Journal and quotes from people that do get Fred's attention contrary to how some pundits have claimed that it was us little people that got FCTC fired.     [Former Coach Tom Crean]      And FWIW, I had contact with Steve Stitle on more than one occassion when I was gainfully employed many years ago and the man is a straight talker.  Tells it like it is.

Great read! Nice to get insight from some of the money people. None of these sports "insiders or experts" seem to have any more knowledge than we do. Especially Dakich!
I will continue to put more faith in our inside sources (until proven otherwise) than any local or national talking heads.

Swing for the fences!

How old is your dad?

70. Haha. Not even really that old but I think that he's kinda over all this stuff. Hence the reason that I'm kinda forcing him to get on board.

Thank goodness I'm a lot younger. I wondered if maybe I shouldn't care as much and one more year of Crean would have did it. Looking forward to much better days ahead for Indiana basketball.

Yeah at least dad saw the whole knight era. My dad has personally seen some good bball face to face. Me? Kinda. I caught the knight era from 1993 on. I'm ready for my own knight era.

Tea leaves and hand writing on the wall point to Steve Alford. Interesting comments by him in the Star. Also, interesting to note that the Star reports his mention of Faith/God and the espn-pc report does not. Just sayin'......

Lots of things bother me about Alford. His record at Iowa is one … and related to that are the Pierre Pierce and Luke Recker issues. Clearly the Pierce issue is the larger of the two, and I still have considerable reservations about that one. Similarly, the Recker thing shows a clear lack of judgement on Alford's part, IMO.

I don't see him much above Crean in terms of overall coaching success. He's easily as inconsistent as Tommy Boy has been, wasn't it just last year the fan base was after him with torches and pitchforks?

No thanks. Let UCLA keep him.

Yeah, because Zaga has won a National Championship right?  Arizona? UCLA? They haven't won in two decades either.

Some analysts are trolls, trying to get viewers/listeners and therefore, spout off at the mouth.

And Dakich is their poster boy. None of them are good for much... they just love to hear themselves talk.... but it's all just hot air.

Did that sound like a guy who was forced to fire Crean yesterday? I don't think so...

Being forced to do something does not preclude one, especially a lawyer, from being able to spin it and sell it as his own idea. For me, the jury is still out. It will be until we have a new coach. That will will be the proof in the pudding.

I am thinking the talk concerning Fife is to bring him in as an assistant. Fred said it himself that there was going to be a good budget for assistants as well. It is time to do the plucking for assistant coaches rather than being plucked.

That all sounds good, but if I were hired as coach, I'd expect full control over who my assistants would be. Any decent coach would do likewise. Hiring a head coach and already having assistants lined up could seriously hinder said head coach's ability to run HIS program HIS way.

Why is he so stupid?

He's not stupid. He's trolling for listeners. There's a difference, and DD is a master of that art... though I give little credence to much of what he says, I still listen occasionally.

Is Crean fired yet?

Oh wait.

What am I suppose to check every 3 minutes now!?

Is anyone really surprised by their comments? The media is simply asking all Creans friends and family about how they feel about his firing. Of course they're all gona say it sucks, IU made a mistake, he's a great coach, blah blah blah. Not ONE of them talk about his overall record at Indiana, tournament appearances and win % - they only want to highlight his Big Ten Championships.
Dear Harbaughs - NO ONE is questioning the integrity and work ethic of Tom Crean. Everyone knows how much of a family man he is, what a great guy he is and the passion he had for IU basketball. He lost his job because he didn't get the overall job done which is consistently winning, getting to the tourney and competing for National Championships every.single.year - not just every few years.

Is donovan hired yet

I should have elaborated. I'm sold on Marshall after Brad Stevens and Billy Donovan. The guy can flat out coach.

I should have elaborated. Good luck with that. Can't see that happening. And not interested in even discussing it.
