TOM CREAN FIRED

Recommended Posts

This seems fair enough, though I have to ask, sincerely, what is DWS?
You're right, my post went further than the others, (I apologize), but frankly, I remember a month ago when I wrote a similar post, and received similar responses to those received by TheRobbob. The moderator at that time didn't get involved until I took it "over the line". Had they stepped in before it got to that point, the conversation would likely have stayed civil and basketball related.

If people want to berate Crean or the team's play, particularly during this dissappointing season, then they should be allowed to voice that frustration. Since I think I can assume that Tom Crean isn't posting here under some alias, nor any of the players, nothing said regarding the team ought to be taken personally by those reading the post. Consequently, replies shouldn't be personal. That's all I was trying to get across. Thanks for addressing things.

DWS = Done with sarcasm

Yes, mods are going to try to stay out of it till it starts skirting the line. We would prefer not to police the threads any more than necessary. Hopefully, posters police their own comments.

As far as CTC's coaching, or the teams play, there has been plenty posted on that. This thread is mostly that. Otherwise than some who take every opportunity to post negativity, no matter the subject matter of the thread, or those who start making personal attacks on CTC and/or the players, I'm not aware that there has been any censorship. Yes, some "tone it downs" are handed out here and there, but that's about it.

And yes, that's the thing about this thread, both sides seem to find themselves personally invested quite often.

I'm starting to think that this thread just needs to be locked. What part of the preceding dozen posts did not get the message through about name calling and bashing? I deleted the post, but any more like that and we'll just hand out warning points. Argue the points, leave the personal attacks and descriptions out of it. Final warning.

We actually have let a lot more bashing go than a lot of other places.  We just don't allow name calling of anyone including the players or staff.  If his offense sucks because…..  That is fine.  "Tom Crean is a snake oil salesman"…  No bueno.  We are pretty consistent on that.  Those type of comments only lead to trouble.  They are intended for the sole purpose of pissing people off.  They add nothing to the board.  Those are the only things we take issues with.  Anything else is fair game to dissect.

Ooohhh!!! One more post filled with name calling and bashing and this crappy thread gets locked?!?

Read carefully my friends:

Tom Crean's feet stink.

mdn82 is a poopyhead.

Jaybob's mullet is dull and lifeless.

ccgeneral's use of emoticons is beneath him.

Stuhoo is perpetually annoying.

Tijan Jobe has TERRIBLE form on his 3 pt. shot, and is a disservice to ligers.

That oughta do it. Lock 'er up.

As long as we can agree that no one is dumb or feeble minded or anything for any opinion on Crean, I'm fine.

Anyone with an opinion on Crean is dumb and feeble-minded.

Now, lock 'er up!

Let your feelings known fellas/lady fellas. :)

Try keeping it all in here instead of other threads so the mods don't have to deal with the headache.

Thanks for making this thread, you beat me to it..

I'll copy what I said in another thread below:

The way I see it, Crean got Indiana out of the basement of college basketball. But is he capable of taking the team to the next level? His body of work says no. He is a program builder, at this point not an NCAA championship coach. How can you miss out on a field of SIXTY EIGHT teams... as Indiana? And a field of 32 in the NIT... thats asinine. If the boosters can pony up the cash to get him out, fine by me...

Thanks to Crean for fixing a mess and getting the program to a stage that it can be operable. I recognize his efforts but I also recognize his limits. His limit has been reached in Bloomington, its time to go get a stud coach.
