Kent really pushed him and when he asked if if IU was the 8th best program in the BT Mike said no. When presented with the facts that over the last four years that is what you get he was dumbfounded and began to turn a little.

Last night during the game the announcers kept singing Creans praises but would make many of the same complaints we make. Wow he just through that ball away without any pressure. Or what is Bryant doing behind the 3pt line down in the corner. If they had to watch every game like we do they would see but like Mike DeCoursey they make false assumptions about IU and act like the fans are idiots before looking at any facts.

Listened as well and thought the same thing.  MD definitely began to change his tune.  Shocking how out of tune he was.

Doesn't make much sense to me.. Neither do the Stevens and Donovan rumors. But if folks want to get their hopes up, who am I to rain on the parade?

I'm just gonna sit back and let this play out. Mark me down as one of the guys who has just accepted that Crean is gonna be here in 2017-18. I hate it but I've found peace with it. Really hope I'm wrong on this one though.

I have a feeling page 1000 is going to be the hammer.  It will get IU basketball back on the map.

It is pretty funny that page 1000 is likely to be within 1 day of the announcement lol

I saw a tweet that was later deleted by Justin Albers. Who else reported it? Just curious because I haven't seen much surrounding this rumor other than that.

The infamous Janitor did as well.

I saw this on an Illinois forum. I do not know if this actually true or wishful thinking. I just found it interesting!

"The big rumor right now is that the same offer (5 years, $25 million total) is out there in front of the people that are representing Marshall and Bennett. Supposedly Marshall's camp has been a little more lukewarm while Bennett's people seem more open to a possible move.
McAdoo"

I do know McAdoo. He used to call our HS games on the radio. He wouldn't have posted it unless he heard it multiple times.

My 2 cents on the coaching candidates: Below are KenPom adjo/adjd rankings from coaches previous yrs. I have shown the average of all years and also shown the average of their best 5 yrs (to get a sense of their ceiling)

*With the common knowledge that you need a top 30/30 team to compete for Championships and FF's

Gregg Marshall: Has by far and away been the most consistent. Those of you complaining that Crean is too inconstant (i.e. conf championship one year then NIT the next) should be happy with the results Marshall will bring to IU. I think that with these adjusted O/D #'s Marshall benefits from the IU uniform and lands that 1 guy every 2-3 years that is a tournament difference maker and also boosts his tournament resume as well.

A. Miller: His KenPom #'s might not be too impressive at first glance, but in 2016 he was playing with very few scholly players and with me only having 6 yrs of data and having to pull 5/6 does not work in his favor. That is also what has be intrigued with him. I cannot say for sure that he will be the best coach on this list, but I can for sure say that he will get better than what he is today as a coach. Points for being young and having room for improvement on an already pretty solid record.

Alford: What Archie has going for him is exactly what is probably working against Stevie. He has coached at a high D-1 level for 17 years now and I think maybe like Crean we have seen his ceiling. He has had some good offensive teams, but also had some bad defensive teams as well. A little too close to Crean's resume for me to get behind (P.S. I really do want to like him, because I want nothing more than an all Indiana bench recruiting Indiana kids)

Crean: Numbers are obviously just for comparison (Fire Him Now!!!)

Bottom line I think any 3 would be an improvement on what we have here now. I will be rooting for Marshall, but would be glad to land Miller if that was final decision as well. I also omitted Billy D's #'s because I think we would all be behind that hire.

  Marshall A. Miller Alford Crean
2017 12/19 49/45 3/82 28/109
2016 67/1 146/15 51/119 6/59
2015 19/15 74/31 40/65 8/201
2014 17/11 36/72 11/37 124/38
2013 34/20 29/145 137/77 2/21
2012 10/26 29/158 49/15 4/74
2011 32/50   48/59 61/134
2010 79/65   27/82 190/174
2009 173/118   47/56 226/186
2008 176/139   54/30
Avg 61.9/46.4 60.5/77.6 46.7/62.2 72.1/110.6
5 best 18.4/18.2 66.8/61.2 32.8/44.0 32.8/60.2

Oh it's fine. I would hate an Alford hire more than having Crean back. He has done less than Crean in 21 years.
