I'm not positive on this but I think if you decline to host in your home gym than lower seed gets to. Don't think they let you hold on 'neutral' sites unless your arena is being used or renovated. Again I'm not sure on this but I'm thinking this could be the case.

In 2010 UNC hosted NIT game in a gym that was not their own....

How much do we want to bet if IU hosted and 3,000 people showed up people would of trashed IU also. I also think IU maybe should of hosted but don't have a strong opinion either way. However, from an IU perspective they were gonna be criticized either way but after game as oppose to before.

Disagree. Administration should have lowered prices to fill the building.

Problem solved.

Our Mens and Womens basketball are heading to the NIT. Baseball is nosediving. Football was 6-7 last year. Fred Glass is killing it as an AD guys. Absolutely killing it.

He's brought the bad programs up and the good programs down, so now we're average across the board. The golden age of IU athletics as Freddie himself called it. L.O.L

Should have announced Crean moving on and accepted the home game as a farewell.

Yes why did Glass have to make this more difficult? The fans would have shown up to show appreciation and support had this exact scenario happened

Not sure if that would of worked or not. Would free tickets have filled place. I'm not sure?

I think the bigger problem here is people are looking for anything to criticize the program for right now given the state of what where it's at. That falls on Glass and Crean and that is 100% their fault for letting it get to this point. The criticism of not hosting an NIT game is anger placed at the larger issue at hand and this is the easy thing to throw it at right now.

I agree, he is getting criticized for everything he does at this point because he won't fire Crean. At this point the decision to play at home or away is just another brick in the wall.

Personally, I see the decision to not play at home a slap in the face to fans that have supported this program for decades.

Partly agree.

However free tickets would have filled the place and cheap tickets would have made it look like a non UK SEC game.

Small side thought. Who is PAYING for our team to travel? Are we footing our own travel expenses as well?

It's a moronic cowardice decision to which there were many solutions.

That's an alternate smaller on campus arena. I'm sure if IU had a smaller on campus arena they would jump at that and the new replacement for U-Gym would be an ideal solution starting in 2020 when it opens for this situation. However, right now IU has no where on campus you can host a basketball game at this moment besides Assembly Hall. Certainly being at U-Gym and the Field house a ton I can tell you those cannot host basketball games anymore. Neither can Wildermuth.

IUWBB didn't make the tournament but will play in the WNIT and they will ply a home game at Assembly Hall...seeing it all over Twitter right now

Everybody thought they would from the beginning. Different fan base that is in town all yr. Women will draw 2,000 whether its regular season or WNIT and not affected by break and that's expected. If the men drew even twice that people would laugh. Different situations.

Although it would be terrible PR for IU basketball, I would love if the players came together and decided that they would not travel and play in the NIT team game tomorrow due to the idiotic decision made by glass and bball staff. If I'm a player on the team my mindset right now is, "If the administration and coaching staff quit on us, then why shouldn't we quit on them?"
