Is an intra-league coaching switch really likely?  I have a hard time accepting Collins jumping from NW to IU.  Not related to his coaching abilities just accepting the fact that he would move from one B1G to another.

Honestly idk of one off top of my head but it could happen this year. He would be great here just dont think it happens. He is probably a couple notches below others and I am hoping we dont make it past Stevens. Aka Billy D lol but if not him then I would be happy with Bennett, Archie or Collins. Those are my home run type hires. Doesnt mean we still couldnt find a good coach after that bunch but I believe if we missed on all 4 it could be a long process.

Actually mile pmd me and said Zeller was going to North Carolina and that he didn't know what happened. I guess he was sort of right since he called IU to get him early on and they eventually got him.

Wow didn't know that. He had told me IU like a week before the decision.

He told me the same thing. He later said that in the days leading up to the announcement, Cody got cold feet and was having second thoughts. He compared it to a groom before the wedding.

Apart from that... Crean actually out-coached him last weekend. Not sure he's the guy... he's kind of in the middle of his own late-season swoon, as well.

I think some on here are going to need to prep themselves mentally if Donovan isn't the guy. We can still bring IU back to the top of the league CONSISTENTLY with the next tier. I want it to be the "homerun" but let's be aware that someone like Archie or Holtmann (haven't seen him mentioned much lately) could be the "next homerun". If u give me someone with strong fundamentals, I'm going to be pleased.

The comments about "uniting the fanbase", if true, feels like Alford, no?

Ok seriously somebody sell me on Collins what has he done to show he can build a winner. Never won anything and never built an elite defense?

He plays cupcakes and the fades down the stretch.

He's about to get Northwestern in the NCAA tournament. That's a damn miracle!

That being said, I don't think he should be considered for the IU job at this time.

He is about to do something no coach has done in northwestern's 112 year basketball history. Make the tournament. I would need more years before i could label him never being able to build an elite defense or that he fades down the stretch. 4 years isn't enough for me to say one way or another if he will be a great coach or an average coach. But taking northwestern to the tournament is pretty impressive no matter how you look at it

He played a cupcake schedule and benefitted from a weak big ten. Yeah sure he's done what no other Northwestern coach has done before but still I would want them at IU either.

Nah... Gainesville is not a retirement spot.
Only one house at a time in a college town!
Maybe Dillon the poster from last night can find a realtor that has been sleeping with Lyonel Anderson for the scoop!

Haha! Hey I do know a few Realtors but not ones around the Bloomington area.

4 years isn't enough years for me to make a judgement on a coach at the beginning of his career. Coach K's first 4 years of coaching didn't scream hall of fame coach or even above average coach.

I agree still we shouldn't be hiring an unknown at this point. I really wish We had advanced statistics going back years. Would be interesting to see where the greats stood in the 60s 70s and 80s

Right there with you. I just joined a few days ago but since I have come across these threads my productivity status in adult-land has hit a new low...which I was pretty sure was impossible before.
