TOM CREAN FIRED

This isn't gonna be a popular post but given the fact Fred seems to love Crean, if he can't get the hire he wants, I see him sticking with Crean before hiring an up and coming guy or just anyone.

Unfortunately, I worry that you might be correct.

I am like the vast majority of fans that have no knowledge one way or the other. I personally feel there is no way that he can be back after this year. The apathy towards the program is at a level I have not scene since Mike Davis's last year. There are plenty of fans that I know that don't post or read the message boards and there feelings are the same. They aren't watching games and want to see Crean gone. Fred Glass has to see that. Crean has lost this fan base.

I don't mean to lash out @Bret. Just frustrated that winds have changed and some people can't see that Crean is a bad coach.

No worries. I more so wanted to point out the attention being given to Romeo -- even from Crean in his waning hours (hopefully) at IU. I'm praying we get a Donavon or a big time recruiter who can pull Romeo into IU. I'd love to see someone from my HS in the Candy Stripes :farting_smiley:

I live near New Albany. From what I hear, Romeo likes the idea of going to IU. Just doesnt like Crean much.

I have heard that he likes Duke, but IU, Kansas and UofL are all in the mix. Apparently, Romeo's dad had a bit of a disagreement with Calipari. Supposedly, Calipari started talking about the NBA with Romeo, and his dad told him off and that Romeo was going to college to get an education first, not as a stepping stone to the NBA. Now this is from a barber shop/salon in downtown NA... stuff goes around there but I can't say with confidence that the information is 100% accurate.

I'd think that if Romeo's family is looking for a school that will put a priority on education and develop him well for the NBA, Duke and IU would be the places IF we can hire someone like Donavon, Stevens, Miller, etc. when we ditch Crean.

I will continue to send emails to him and McRobbie to the point if they aren't willing to make a change they themselves start feeling the heat. We as fans have more power than you think. Revenue is based on us which in turn means their job is being done or not. I wont watch a game next year if Crean is back. I am tired of this program draining me. We all have plenty that we could use the energy towards and I plan to.

In other words, the same way Jim Irsay runs the Colts. Indiana employers love them some bad coaches.

I agree man.  We as fans can talk all we want but if we take no action that we have the power to take, we really can't say much.

This alone should be a reason to ditch Crean and move on to someone else.

FWIW, I spoke with Mile and got the impression that things are quieting down because too much has been shared.

Ding ding ding! There's the winning statement.

The athletic department wants to be tight-lipped about this matter. That's always been their standard with coaching matters like these. Anyone who works in the athletic department would vouch for that. From higher ups to custodians. They DO NOT want info to be leaked and take extreme measures to assure that it doesn't happen.

Don't think for a moment there hasn't been some truth to some of these rumors. And the athletic department does NOT want such info to be public. I can assure you that they are double downing on security to make sure (to the best of their ability) that no more info is out there on the internet. Lines of communication are undoubtedly being cut off at a rapid pace.

IF GLASS DOESNT FIRE CREAN.....

You guys will all be back here by October lol.

I guarantee you I wont no offense to anyone on here it isnt your faults. I just dont wanna spend my time talking about a program that doesnt care about being relevant. Another bad year is gonna drop our program even further down and next year our coaching search will lose a couple names because they wont be interested in the rebuild. Honestly I may have all the games on but ive slowly stopped paying attention more and more each game. Kinda sad it has gotten to this point but the hope that Glass cares to make us good again and that he knows what needs to be done makes me tune in still. Another year ruins that and I wont spend 2 years on here complaining. I dont have the energy for that and I feel bad for the ones that do if it comes down to it.
