TOM CREAN FIRED

Recommended Posts

This is the tip of the iceberg. It had been bad before but this is the worst season imo. The Syracuse debacle season still enrages me because that team should've done so much more. That's when I saw through his crap. He should've been fired after either the 13-14 or 14-15 seasons. He wasn't and now we are where we are. But the third time will be the charm. Have faith my man

That year we should of made a deep tourney run! No excuses. We lost to a Syracuse team that we we better then (in my opinion). I hope this is it because it's getting hard to watch. Crean MUST GO.

The excuse train was in full force on Creans show tonight. Talking about how season would be different with Hartman, talk about the how different the numbers were with OG as compared to w/o OG, Newkirk's knee injury, Morgan and James still not 100%, etc, etc. Then talks about leadership on his FF Marquette team. Had to make sure to remind everyone about his FF appearance. Excuses, excuses, excuses! I can stand to listen to this fool speak anymore. Please Glass end this debacle!

Of course he talked about his one good year at Marquette.  He owes a lot to Wade for carrying him; if it wasn't for that he'd be as anonymous as coaches get.

Nah the best team won that year. Every year a team that is top 30 on both Adjusted Offense and Defense wins. Both us and Louisville were the only team that could say that. They were hot. We were lucky we didn't lose before Syracuse. We played so bad those last couple of weeks.

I know he made it once but I would like to add that Crean lost by 33 in the final four lol

They did play bad but there was no excuse why that team didn't win. Yeah they should have lost to Temple though. IU was clearly the best team and then they went downhill towards the end of the season. A trend that we know far too well with Crean

And then turned that 33 point loss into a school paying him 3.1 mil a year. Not a bad turn of events after getting embarrassed in s final 4

Sorry they weren't clearly the best team that year in my opinion They were on of the best teams but the 3rd overall number 1 seed that year. Louisville was the number 1 overall seed and Kansas was the 2nd number 1 seed.

Because they went downhill the last half month. They were 24-3 coming off that huge win at Michigan State. They were the best team. And then they weren't

Yep. Louisville's numbers were better than ours. They were hot in February and carried it into March after struggling in January.

Syracuse was a top 10 preseason team that year as well that under preformed all year to get a 4 seed. People seem to forget that and think that Syracuse was trash that year

Which might mean something except during the game we did exactly zero things to counter the Syracuse Zone.

And Crean pulled his patented take the hot kid out to put the struggling starter back in.

and Louisville last lost was February 9th that year and was ranked # 1 in the country like we were in January. Iu was one of a handful of teams that could of won that year. Like many years good teams with dreams of winning it lose. It's why the tournament is greatest sporting event in the world in my opinion

We might as well stop because I'm not changing my stance. IU was the best team when they wanted to look like it. Obviously, they didn't want to be when it mattered most

Maybe but Syracuse has a little more to do with iu losing then some want to give credit. They went on in he next game to hold Marquette to 39 points in the elite 8. 7th Ken Pom adjusted defense.

Agree. Not saying we shouldn't have gone further than we did, but people have come to romanticize how good that team actually was. As you said, IU was a handful of really good teams that year, but we weren't head and shoulders better than everyone else.

Remember, we barely beat Georgetown early in the year, and struggled to beat Georgia, along with losing to Butler in the non conference. Yes, we were certainly capable of winning a national title that year, and certainly fell apart down the stretch and should have gone further. But, IU was also a talented team with almost no depth, and and no size in the backcourt.

A really good team capable of winning it all, but also a team with flaws that could be taken advantage of.
