TOM CREAN FIRED

Recommended Posts

Kravitz is still at it ... saying "Listen up, humans: Crean isn’t going anywhere. Crean shouldn’t be going anywhere."

http://www.wthr.com/article/kravitz-as-fans-foolishly-clamor-for-creans-head-hoosiers-season-continues-to-go-sideways

He used my tweet response to him in his article about the ship taking the captain. I commented on his article as well haha

I am so done with him!

Everybody knows I've been critical of Crean's Indiana recruiting lately and I truly believe the struggles in this area are because our high school coaches and parents do not like his style.

Please hire a coach who can teach the value of each possession and defense!

Crean will put Blackmon on blast but won't say a word about Bryant crying like a toddler whenever the mean old refs make a call against him. Inconsistent criticism is a great way to turn your guys against you. "Thomas is really trying to lead the team, and he’s not getting a lot of help." If your 'leader' behaves the way he does on the court then there's your problem.

Bryant has the emotional maturity of a 5 year old.  There for a while he was better about not crying about absolutely everything, but now he's reverted back to his early season whining.

TBH Crean is saying plenty that all of this is on him. No one has been cherry picking those quotes though.

Still needs to go, just saying I think people are crucifying him for calling out players and completely deflecting blame.

Listening to CBS' Eye on College Basketball podcast hosted by Gary Parrish. Crean and his job security came up and Parrish talked about how he knows people who have tried pushing Crean to go to a "soft landing" spot like Pastner did, going from Memphis to Ga Tech. Parrish said that Crean's reply to these people was always absolutely not, he's the Indiana coach, he isn't going anywhere, etc. Things can always change, but that's a perspective from someone in the industry that hasn't been talked about yet.

Edit: They (Matt Norlander is a co-host) also believe that there is no way Crean gets fired after this season.

Yikes. Gotta be able to recognize when you're in over your head.

If I had acted like him during games when I was a little kid I probably would've been grounded before I could fasten my seatbelt for the ride home. If Crean was serious about wanting Bryant to be a leader he would've stopped his antics a long time ago.

Thing is, Crean will land somewhere when this is all said and done, making a couple million a year. JBJ and Bryant on the other hand... you're both supposed to be first rounders and you can't make communication work on this team? Neither have stepped up to lead? Not good for two guys who's performances have not exactly aligned with first rounder expectations. What a weird season.

Norlander made it sound like it was ridiculous that we want the guy gone the year after a conference title. Some of the national guys just don't understand the reasoning as to why. They think it is because we haven't won games this year, when in reality it is how we have lost the games and how it hasn't changed in 9 years. Love listening to that podcast, but didn't expect him to be that out of touch with this topic.

IU basketball since 2011. 2 big ten championships and 7 years of not finishing higher than 5th since he got here. The national guys saying "but he won the conference last year" don't get that we want him gone because of the instability of his program.
2011: 11th
2012: 5th
2013: 1st
2014: T8th
2015: 7th
2016: 1st
2017: 10th (proj)

Crean is OK with Bryant acting like that because Bryant is one of the very few players on the team who consistently acts like he gives a sh!t. And given the relative reactions to adversity on this team, I'm OK with that.

Per Dakich Glass was not at the game yesterday.

Just because he wasn't there doesn't mean that he can continue to ignore the obvious... unless Glass is part ostrich.

Dakich defending Crean

Yep, but nothing but status quo. Both are charter members of the Mediocrity Admiration Society.

Dakich is putting it ALL on the players... he said "do it his (Crean's) way, you win big. do it your (the player's) way, you lose". What a load of crap. Sure it's partly on the players, but who's starting them, leaving them in the game, not "coaching" them. It's on Crean

Landing someone like Donovan will also allow us to keep some of our players as well.

Donovan would attract the elite kids who back out from coaching changes and reclassing late as well as grad transfers. Donovan won't put a product not worth at least top 5 of the B1G. The best part is he probably wins us a title during a year we don't expect it. Come tourney time if we have some talent I have faith in a run with him. I love Stevens and would gladly take him but Billy is my top target. Our chance to land him is now cause 5 years from now....Duke and Syracuse will surely be calling. UNC and maybe U of L as well. Kansas and Arizona as well as UCLA seem to be steady for awhile. Alford could ruin that at any time though.
