HoosierReb01 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 How? Exactly. Charlie's only hanging on the edge by his toenails now.  Quote
IUfan_Charlie Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Charlie, you balance on the edge every game anyway. This is the closest I've been to jumping off. Quote
IUfan_Charlie Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 How? Because he had our best player on the bench in the clutch and it led to PSU getting 2nd chance points because we had no one in who could rebound. Quote
RoadToZion Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I actually thought it was solid coaching down the stretch. Howard is a better defender than Noah. He just is. Would you rather have Hanner in there? No. Howard hit 3 huge free throws for us and grabbed a couple big rebounds. I thought he played just fine. 8bucks 1 Quote

Alford_fan Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Someone asked earlier in this thread, who is better then Crean out there? It looks like Richard Pitino in his first year at Minnesota is going to do better then IU this year. Quote

[/quote]Yes, yes, yes. I think it was the Syracuse game where his one on one post defense just isn't there yet. Howard more disciplined. Noah is great at floating around the lane and blocking shots but D-ing up isn't a strong point. Not knocking just a fact. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Uhhhh, offense for defense subbing with Jeff Howard disagrees. He didn't do a bad job, but that alone keeps it from "excellent". Quote
HoosierHoops1 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Not a crean fan lost respect for him when he went off on Meyer last year but no not time to fire him that's ridiculous. Young team gaining experience not having the year everyone wanted them to have. They are getting better. Crean needs to get better too. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners You'd be all up close on K if he went off on someone under the same circumstances. Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Since this has been brought up. I'm going to say that Pitino will be just fine, if not better with his own players. What makes you think he would do worse with his own players? I would think that he's going to have better talent up there than Tubby was able to bring in. Quote

Mike Davis did worse with his own players, he played hop scotch with the .500 line with his own players. Quote
Stuhoo Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 no no no no no, wrong, Howard is not a better defender than Noah. A slight amendment: Howard is a smarter defender than Vonleh (for now). And in the last few minutes of a tight game against an opponent with no dominant big for Jeff to have to handle, that matters. Quote

I'm just going to withhold judgement until he coaches his own players, which he has yet to do. Quote
Samiam87 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 This is the point guys, we like him, he's a nice guy, the kids like him, but he can't coach during a game. We lost tonight, at Nebraska, Illinois, NW, because of Tom Cream not our players. He subs 2nd and 3rd string players into Big Ten games for no reason. In addition, he continually messes up the flow of the game by subbing non-stop. Most coaches sub because they are resting, punishing, matching up or saving players. In addition, a coach might sub because we are way ahead or behind. However, Tom Cream subs as soon as we start to do good. The Big Ten is not a pay for play league or elementary school not everyone should get playing time. If you're good enough to start you should start and play 90% of the game. This is what everyone is talking about! It's the coach and it's never gonna change he has been do this for years but we didn't notice because we were either losing big or winning big. Now that it's close we lose! Quote
IU Hoosier41 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I'll have to admit, the Fire Tom Crean Train is growing tonight... Quote
