I think we found a big piece of Mikail Kamara's 2025 package this morning. His brother, Amari, has signed. There doesn't appear to be any offers for him from anywhere and Taylor from BSB confirmed that he will be on scholarship.

(To be clear, I'm absolutely on board with whatever it took to get Mikail back)

To be fair, according to 247, we did beat out Averett University and Hampden-Sydney.

Raise your hand if you have heard of either school.

EDIT:

I looked it up and both schools are in Virginia and have undergrad enrollments under 1,000. The cherry on top for Hampden-Sydney is that it is an all-male school while Averett’s graduation rate is 42%…LOL

I realize a number of similar schools have closed but am still amazed that schools like these two still survive.

HH’s podcast with Fernando Mendoza. Haven’t listened to these guys in a good while, but will absolutely listen to this one.

I understand that the HH guys have “quirks”, which sour people, but they do produce some interesting interviews.  In addition to Mendoza I recommend their interview with Kamara. He is a very engaging, smart guy. It’s interesting to hear some of his comments about Cig.  He is obviously a fan but mentions that Cigs “public persona” at IU is totally different than what Kamara encountered at JMU.

The beauty of the podcast is that you can fast forward through the HH banter and just listen to the interview. To the HH’s credit they do ask good questions.

Gotta be Hartline, right? Haven’t they been talking that guy up for years?

Good call. Pete Nakos broke this today.

That was a good one. They asked questions about things I was wondering about. The younger guys on the OL being ready to get some snaps and the CB position.

Just watched this. Man, it's so freaking refreshing listening to your HC and feeling absolutely confident he's got this ****.

Pam Whitten just got an five year extension.  I'm not providing an opinion on her, I really don't know if she does a good job as President nor is this the forum for such a debate.  Last year was a bit bumpy for her, which makes this notable.

What I do know is she is a big supporter of athletics, especially football, and Cig thanks her along with Scott all the time.  This past fiscal year IU gave the athletic dept a $34M loan mostly used to help deal with Tom's buyout and hiring Cig and staff.  IU has never provided support at this level, the previous largest loan to the AD was $3-4M.  The loan will be paid back as FB revenue increases from scheduled donations, gameday revenue, and media rights.

I would guess Pam was involved in the aforementioned record level of support, and I think we can expect the increased institutional support we've seen for football to continue.  This should be a good thing, as we know the one sport with a very good ROI is football and it makes sense to invest in it.

Read an article on that there was one BOT member who voted no.

That's the hope at least. I'm just happy IU has finally decided to at least give IUFB a shot. The 2024 Season was one that I will never forget and always cherish. I'm looking forward to more seasons under the current coaching staff.
