The only thing we know for sure is that Cigs thinks TIno is the best option of those who were available to us.

Just the sheer speed of the announcement.  Obviously a real search didn’t take place.  Tino worked with Cig for years.  He brought him to Indiana giving him a promotion for a reason 
 

Rourke feels closer in style to Hoover than Mendoza as well.  Which could be good for Tino. 
 

But honestly my guess is Tino is our next OC if we get poached.  But I’m betting the coaching staff views this as the band coming back together

No it could've been one of about 8 guys and 20+ schools. Miami already doing this with Mensah plus Ponds being from Miami plus Ponds locking them up in the natty was just my personal guess.

Good guess.  Another data point is the Wisky DB (Xavier Lucas) Miami tampered with and got, of course sparking that still unresolved legal action.

I’d bet the farm they tried to get Ponds.

They’re a scummy bunch and it’s so satisfying to have beat them.
