Absolutely incredible. WOW. What a day! My boy won his sectional soccer match during it too. Had to hide the phone for a few hours. Sarratt is awesome and Mendoza is my new favorite. He’s a smart and tough QB. His post games interviews always crack me up. Love his faith in God and his bit of nerdiness that comes through.

Big picture I didn’t think we were bad today. Obvious situational issues, but you have a damn good staff staring at you across the field when you line up against Iowa. I think today’s score can be an aberration just like the Illinois one was. Full faith in the staff to clean things up going forward, but when it came down to it we made the plays we needed to make on both sides of the ball. I’m over the moon to win a game like that in a place like that.

Reporter: “Fernando, what will you remember most about your first B1G road game?” Mendoza: “Fantastic atmosphere here in Iowa. I’ll remember all of our teammates coming together. It wasn’t the prettiest.it was just a band of brothers, and the boys winning it in the fourth quarter. Sticking together through the good, the bad, and the ugly. And all that matters is that we got the win. Hats off to Iowa; fantastic defense, and fantastic opponent. —————————————————- Reporter: “Coach, this is your first time in Kinnick Stadium. What will you remember from this win?” Cig: “Sarrat running into the end zone for the win.” I’m with Coach.

It's time to accept that IU is a really good football team. This win, in my opinion, doesn't diminish at all that Oregon is also a really good football team. Both can be true. Today, IU was better. We have to maintain focus and make sure that the next game is the most important on the schedule. Win that one and move on to the next. What I really hope is that this helps to convince even better high school kids to join the program. And that wins like this boost our budget to sign better players.

I found myself incredibly light headed this weekend and eventually went to the ER. Seems my heart is in Afib. New for me, but brother and both parents dealt with this. Drs seem optimistic and I have a procedure tomorrow to shock in back into rhythm. Drs are all optimistic but I am a bit discouraged tbh. Have been able to drop about 30 lbs this year and got my BP down from high to normal as a result. So to have this set back is frustrating. I am not sure how this will impact things but we had hoped to travel back to IN this weekend to see our new grand daughter. Then the next 2 weekends to watch our daughter play soccer (we only get to see about 1/3 of her games in person). So I know I should be thankful it is not a major problem but getting in shape, dropping weight, changing diet was supposed to help keep this stuff at bay right. Would appreciate your prayers for patience, thankfulness and quick healing.

Elijah Sarratt had six catches against Iowa. Every single one of them was for either a first down or a touchdown

Iowa’s offensive line came into this game with the single best run blocking grade-out in the country through four weeks. During the game, they graded out the worst on run blocking that they have in over two years for a game. The Hawkeyes averaged negative .2 yards before contact per carry. Our front seven is amazing.

No, Illinois is not “a totally different team than last week”, Gus. They are playing a totally different team than last week.

I’ll get fired up and predict IU by 50 when we’re closer to game time, but for now I’m not too optimistic about this one and it’s entirely because of how Cig and Shanahan have treated tough away games back to their JMU days. Playing conservative and vanilla on offense will not work against Dan Lanning. I hope they break their tendency and come out guns blazing. (Hoosiers by 50, however)
