1st time I’ve gotten see him actually play the defensive end and he was decent. A little stiff. Change of direction wasn’t great. Awareness was good. Physicality was no problem. I think the biggest issue he’ll have early on is that his handle is a little high and a little loose. You combine that with having just ok burst and I imagine there will be times early on in which the 2 senior PG’s, particularly Conerway, get in and under and pressure his dribble and he’s not really gonna have answers. Imagine he’ll always be kind of a combo guy, but he’s got vision and instincts and he’ll be fine eventually. Side note: If Leo Curtis gets any legit minutes at Nebraska next year that is a bad sign for them. He’s got skill and he played hard, but, man, the B1G game is gonna be crazy fast for him. The other thing is I seriously if he’s ever touched a weight. Ever. He’s both thin and soft-bodied. That is a bad combo.4 points

(2025) - G Aleksa Ristic to Indiana
MemphisHoosier and 2 others reacted to HoosierHoopster for a topic
That’s fair, but the idea that he’s a project and just a 12th player seems off. Hanner P was a project— athleticism without bball game skill or high level experience. This kid is playing in a pro league and appears to have good floor vision and skill (with a handle that needs improvement). That’s not a project and the problem I have is what sounds like a dismissive take on his game from Rab without actual knowledge of it. Haven’t been impressed with Rab for some time, fwiw. Demo’s assessment above was based on his game and well reasoned3 points -

Ristic played really well today other than just not making shots. Actually better than yesterday. He’s very composed and aware and he just doesn’t make mistakes. Also had the play of the game by straight breaking a kid’s ankles on a crossover and finishing with, swear to God, about a 6’ George Gervin-style finger roll. In this era of floaters I didn’t think anyone still had that one in the bag. Watched it several times. Btw, Slovenia blows. It could have been worse. Their paint defense was so bad that Serbia was just pounding them at the rim. Woody would have been proud.2 points -
We're really swinging for the fences in recruiting. We'll see how it works out with this staff. They do seem to be doing a good of getting traction and turning that into visits. There's always the portal in they can't land a few.2 points

I don't typically start a recruit thread unless we see multiple reports or a tweet from the player that an offer has been extended. In Mingo's case, the only thing I've seen is the article below from The Daily Hoosier that contains this: Mingo told national 247Sports analyst Brandon Jenkins Indiana is one of the schools recruiting him the hardest. IU assistant coach Rod Clark appears to be leading the charge for Indiana. So if we're recruiting him that hard................... https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-basketball-recruiting-class-of-2026-name-to-know-5-star-guard-dylan-mingo/?fbclid=IwY2xjawLg3lRleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBicmlkETFLOVJFT3dMUEV3UVl5MktsAR54zbrUIGxls47PRsyLwp0FTqOPVbb_1cM45pZErOywCk7RzH7FkpyXjQ-aAQ_aem_ZYnEDmACs6T5YrSIJ0wYyQ 247 Rivals On3 Hudl1 point -

What I saw as the reason Smith sat out was he just needed a break. He'd played overseas in the FIBA event came back and immediately jumped back into AAU. Probably a combination of being a little nicked up and just plain tired.1 point -
It very well could be the oversized cut-off tshirt under the jersey skewing things a bit, but from seeing him play up close that guy is WIDE. Just a huge frame.1 point

It was an U-20 tournament game against Iceland, a country with a population of under 400,000 that isn’t very focused on basketball. It would be like having a strong game against the Alaska U-20 all stars. I hope he’s not a project, but as our 12th guy he likely is.1 point

Reports I've seen suggest we haven't missed a Thompson game. In fact, he goes up against Latrell Allmond's team this morning and 247 reported KJ staked out a front row seat before the teams even took the floor. Admittedly, it could be more for Allmond, but the fact is, he's got a front row seat which Thompson won't miss.1 point -

Mistakenly first posted this in the general high school thread. '26 Jacob Webber may be on the IU radar. We watched him last month and was reported we're watching him this week. Originally from Nebraska but transferring to La Lumiere for the 25-26 season. There were reports in March he had committed to Nebraska but per Raby, that was an unfounded internet rumor. Playing AAU for ETG on the 3SSB circuit.1 point -

I'll readily admit I was highly skeptical we'd ever get an OV. And while he could still commit elsewhere before October, the fact that an OV has been scheduled IMO is a tribute to our new staff's recruiting efforts. My pure money thinking is you have to take into account that DeVries hsd to put an entire team together. You can’t go crazy in bidding on a couple guys when you’re trying to construct an entire team. On the roster, it looks solid to me but time will tell. The hole is lacking a true rim protector, but DeVries isn’t hiding from that he’s looking to play to the team’s strengths as built - get out and run, spread the floor, wing actions, scrappy D and wear the other team down, hit the glass. Looking forward to seeing how it shakes out, it will minimally be a thousand times better coached than the that God awful mess that Woodson ran — with rim protectors1 point -
Amanda Cahill - Grengewald (Luxembourg)

Indiana women’s basketball legend retires after long professional career Billy Heyen Jul 4, 2025 at 6:17 PM EDT After a basketball career that took her around the world, Amanda Cahill has retired. One of the greatest players in the history of the Indiana University women's basketball has played her last professional game at the age of 29. ADVERTISEMENT Cahill spent most of her pro career in Luxembourg, along with some time in Australia. "Basketball has been great to me and provided me with so many opportunities, experiences and connections," Cahill told the Sandusky Register. "I am getting married in August and just graduated with my master's in social work. I thought these life transitions were prompting me to also transition away from basketball and lean more into a different career. I plan to still be around the game, but just not as a player — as a fan and maybe one day a coach." Cahill had a prolific Hoosiers career. She scored 1,884 points from 2014-2018, which still ranks fifth in Hoosiers history. Her 1,115 rebounds are second in IU history. ADVERTISEMENT Cahill also ranks eighth in steals, with 189, and tied for fifth in blocks, with 135. In Cahill's final college game, she was a big part of Indiana's 2018 WNIT championship. Before Indiana, Cahill was one of the best high school girls basketball players Ohio had ever seen. She was the Division II state player of the year as a sophomore, junior and senior at Clyde High School in northwest Ohio. She was 99-6 as a high school player, coached by her father to two state semifinal appearances while scoring more than 2,000 points with more than 1,000 rebounds. Now, Cahill is on to the next chapter of her life, with a legendary high school career in Ohio and college career at Indiana always a part of her journey.1 point -
Is it reasonable to say that this visit also puts pressure on Kinney? The two of them have been battling each other and both are strongly considering IU and Kensucky. Feels almost like two dominoes that could fall, one to each of the two schools.1 point
