  1. The staff has been very consistent with Trey. They’ve done a good job showing him how minutes are available from Day 1. Also, Ostrom has built a really good relationship with Trey and the family. I would say more so than any of the other programs. I might have posted it here once (or maybe it was another IUBB site), but I witnessed firsthand the way Ostrom interacted with Trey’s mom and younger brother after a home game when other coaches were standing together by the locker room. The other college coaches were standing there quiet and not really engaging with the family and Ostrom almost looked like he was there with the family. That’s how they were interacting with each other. So a level of comfort has definitely been established. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  2. Harmon sent out a tweet maybe a moth ago musing on things for Mohammed to work on without AAU obligations. I responded that I thought the kid needed to develop a really effective catch and shoot game to most efficiently pair him with an elite primary creator. Mentioned that I thought his footwork and gather were a little sloppy off the catch. Didn’t give it another thought. A couple of weeks later he posts video of him putting the kid through a series of drills coming off baseline pin downs and squaring up for wing jumpers. Mentions specifically working on his gather. Yeah, I’ve got that kind of juice.

  3. Just got back from the Kasilof River fishing for King Salmon. Limited out with 2 of the amazing fish and 1 Dolly Varden. What a wonderful way to start the Alaska Fishing Season. Next stop.... Klutina River for Red (Sockeye) Salmon. That is still a few weeks off but I'm excited none the less. It's on people!

  7. Now, I want to be clear that I’m not saying he’s an IU lock. I’m not saying that at all. I’m just describing how well IU has done in the recruitment. That isn’t up for debate, regardless of which college he chooses. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  8. Corey Evans - Yes, Indiana is still the team to beat for Trey Kaufman, but that doesn’t mean that a commitment is right around the corner. While some of his peers in the 2021 Rivals150 have come to a quick college decision, Kaufman doesn’t seem to be in a rush. Kaufman has only taken official visits thus far to Indiana and Purdue. While the ability to connect with various coaching staffs via Zoom calls and virtual visits has helped, those solutions don't replace in-person, on-campus visits. Louisville, Virginia and Xavier have done their best to hold him off from committing, and Kentucky and North Carolina have also shown interest, but I expect Kaufman to ultimately choose the Hoosiers.

  9. Well that would be great if what I was responding to was the team improving, buuut it wasn't. It was in response to LCS flat out lying about specific players getting worse. I guess you didn't get that part.

  10. Yep love what Archie is doing overall with recruiting. If we can get Trey and any of the Wings we are after we should be in good shape but Aminu could be special. Still think we are looking at 4 person class.

  11. scoopmantv.com FOUR NEW PROGRAMS TRYING TO MAKE THEIR MARK WITH FIVE-STAR GUARD AMINU MOHAMMED In the month of May, four new programs got involved with consensus five-star guard Aminu Mohammed of Greenwood (MO) resulting in four more scholarship offers. Georgia, Wake Forest, Pittsburgh and Georgetown have all offered Mohammed in the month of May, his guardian Shawn Harmon confirmed, adding to an already long offer list that includes programs such as Indiana, Maryland, Kansas State, Iowa, Louisville, Seton Hall and Florida, among others. “Georgia and Wake Forest are probably pushing the hardest out of the new programs,” his guardian said. “Georgetown and Pittsburgh are about on the same level in terms of effort shown.” Mohammed has recently fielded calls from Louisville, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Indiana, Georgia, Georgetown and will get on this week with Wake Forest. All of the calls have been, “great,” his guardian said, with each program giving a unique perspective on how they plan on using him in the future if he decides to commit. “Georgia, Indiana and Georgetown have been more specific about how he would be utilized in their system,” his guardian explained. “All three have been very detailed about what they would do to use his attributes and how they can make him even more effective as a player.” “Louisville has done some of that as well but have not been as detailed as the other three.” Mohammed has risen to the top of a lot of coaches recruiting boards because of his potential as a player. Most see him as a high level playmaker on both ends and have been outspoken about their respect for his game on both ends. “Most coaches are saying they like what he can do as a player scoring,” his guardian said. “Potential high level defender, and ability to play multiple positions, as well as, defend multiple positions.” Equally important to finding the correct fit, is finding a good academic institution. Mohammed has the talent to play in the NBA in the future, but his academic coursework is something he wants to lean on as well. He will be weighing both on and off the court fit when it’s time to make a decision. “Academics are huge because the school he is at now has very high academic standards,” he said. “And we would like that to continue at the next level.” But don’t expect a decision any time soon. Mohammed is still sorting through the programs and listening to everyone’s offer before he does any deciding. “We’re not in a hurry at all to make a decision,” his guardian explained. “We believe the right school will be there in the end, so there is no time table. We’ll get to know the coaches and their staff’s and we’ll enjoy the process of doing that.”

  12. He is just the type of kid with the work he puts in you hear of and continual growth that is just a dream. This is the kid you want in 1990 as much as 2020. He is just going to be a player, and a dominant one potentially. You put him with Lander and the sky is the limit. No matter where he ends up I am tracking him. Would love to see him reach that potential and become a top 5 pick. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Yogi was a 5-star McDonald's All American. He was good as a freshman, the starting point guard on a team that was ranked #1 for part of the season. But he wasn't a "game changer" until later in his college career. The last IU player who was truly a "game changer" as a freshman was Cody Zeller. Romeo wasn't even a game changer as a freshman though he was good. Romeo's best game at IU was against Maryland when he scored 28 points. IU lost that game. Being a "game changer" is more than being good. It means the ability at least at times to control a game or to influence the play sufficiently that the team wins. Lander is obviously talented but he is skipping a year of high school. Nobody has any idea how he will transition to college. Hunter isn't even close to being a game changer.

  26. St. John's wing L.J. Figueroa is in the transfer portal, source told ESPN. Averaged 14.5 points and 4.5 rebounds last season, shot 36.5% from 3. I've seen some speculation that we might reach out.

  28. Yeah, no one has developed under Archie other than Morgan, Thompson, Durham, TJD, McSwain, and Smith. RoJo and Hartman were the same, so that’s on CAM.

Justin committed to one kind of a coach but got a different kind. He should be given credit for hanging with IU for three years when they needed him and getting his degree before moving on. Some on this board seem to want to trash him on the way out. It's hard to see why. He was 2nd on the team in rebounds and 3rd in scoring this past season. And, he was the best defensive player on the team. IU would not have won the game against Michigan State in 2019 without Justin's 24 points. And his defense clearly helped IU win a couple of games in 2020. He has talent and I suspect he will end up with a coach more to his liking. Good luck Justin. His leaving creates opportunity for Race Thompson, Jerome Hunter and probably others.

  33. No hate whatsoever for the kid, but I am honestly happy he decided to move on. He, like Devonte Green, was a wobbly crutch for Miller. Decent player that could win you a game or two, but you never knew when or where and ultimately would be more of a negative as a whole with either poor shooting, bad passing, or lazy defense. Highly talented but under motivated mentally and physically. He is a band aid that ripped itself off.

Long time no post! I think the telling sign was in Archie's release, he said "I'm proud of his growth as a person, he's a great young man and has been a terrific role model off the court and in the classroom." Not thanking him for his contributions to the basketball team. Sent from my SM-G965U using BtownBanners mobile app

  36. He played well at times. He learned to not try to do too much. he defended well, and he improved. I’m not at all convinced he was a positive addition to the team culture. A squared away young man and obviously a very intelligent young man, but way too much eye-rolling for my taste. It’s all good.

  37. Congratulations on graduating in 3 years and your contributions on the court. Obviously, he didn’t see eye to eye with Arch on what his role would be next year. I wish him the best moving to his new school. Good luck.
