HoosierHoopster Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 ^^ This program as developed by Moren is exceptional. No flash in the pan here, the program is in great shape. Hope that the men's program is developing similarly. Starting to look like it, more time to find out J34 1 Quote

LamarCheeks Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 Dropped one spot, so not bad. Got replaced at No. 2 by ... Ugh, the Caitlin Clarks. The ESPN bracketologist still had us as a No. 1 in Greensboro, but moved Virginia Tech up to the 1 line with all the other losses. Don't know how Iowa doesn't get a No. 1 seed after their weekend. If Iowa is not a number 1 seed they are rewarding teams for season in total vs tournament. IU drops one spot and Iowa with 6 losses vs VT with 4 losses. A way to create controversy, interest, debate. However, it wouldn’t surprise me if Iowa replaced VT as a number 1 seed. If current brackets were to hold IU Ladies would be in an excellent position. Especially if Holmes were to be at her best. I think it’s a mystery situation with Holmes. Could it be the reason that coaching looked poorly vs Ohio State press…was because coaches and players were trying to cover up for whatever is going on with Holmes while continuing to let her play (rather than going with 5 guards the whole game). I could not find the post on Facebook that Mack's dad made after the game, but he stated that Mack was hurting, and he made a "Willis Reed" reference. The reference could be solely about playing for the team or could be a reference to the nature of the injury. I am staying optimistic and going with the first option and assuming all she needs is some "RICE" for a few days for any swelling to come down. Quote

It’s more than just swelling to come down…at very least it impacts practice, confidence, strength, stamina, and in tournament playing with day between games. Even sweet 16 will be tough and then competition level increases. Holmes played well against MSU but OSU even and I am not trained in that area and know nothing…she was kind of skipping around at times very gingerly. In a late season game she looked really tired but she played very well. T. Moren in a pre big ten tournament interview looked exhausted like worrisome (my take), and right before OSU game made statement that IU Ladies were going to have to get a lot more from L.M. (Just my take)…At the very least its just a bummer because of such a high level Holmes was playing. I did see comment about Holmes “gutting it out playing on one leg”…The only reason OSU beat IU and coaching staff was trying face reality right in middle of game to figure or not figure it out. LamarCheeks Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 This is sorta comical. We lost to O$U in the B1G semifinals and drop to No. 3 in the AP poll. Caitlin Clark wins the tournament and she jumps to No. 2. The NCAA brackets have us as a top seed and Caitlin Clark as a No. 2. All the Caitlin Clark fans, who apparently don't know how the NCAA tourney works, think they should be a No. 1 instead of us. "We won the Big Ten tournament. ... We're ranked No. 2," the fusspots say. An NCAA seed is based on your entire season -- not three games in March. And rankings really have nothing to do with it. So, we haven't played since losing to O$U and dropping to No. 3 ... The final AP poll comes out today and whadda ya know -- we're back up to No. 2. Those poor Iowans ...
