Stuhoo Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Josh N JBj Rojo (who will guard a lot of 6'6" guys) OG TB Bench (in order of minutes played) Juwan, Cujo, DeRon, DGreen, Freddie McFly, MSB (yes...he will actually get a little play before the last minute of a blowout!), GGelon Quote
Brass Cannon Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I think Rojo starts. Looks like Crean wants to have 3 people pushing the ball. Id go Rojo JBJ OG Morgan Bryant Got Size Scoring and Defense with veterans coming off the bench Quote
HoosierAloha Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 What I would like to see...RoJo--Newkirk--GreenJBJ--CuJo OG--McSwainJM--DDTB--DDWhat we'll see to start the season...NewkirkJBJRoJoOGTBI don't like the three guard starting lineup. If we go to it some throughout the game I won't be that upset though. Beowulf50, IUsafety and Hovadipo 3 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 My guess.NewkirkJBJRojoOGBryantBench order Morgan (3-5), (CuJo (1-3), DD (4-5)), McSwain (3-4), Green (1-3)Priller and Gelon in spots. Hartman really hurts our depth quite a bit considering we have Priller and Gelon on roster. 10 guys. They need to stay healthy. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners HoosierAloha and Stuhoo 2 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 I would much rather (I think) run 2 G 3 F lineups IF McSwain is effective as a defender and rebounder. TB, OG, Mc, DD, JMo for 3 spots5 guards for 2 spots. Mathematically half of the game with 2/3 and half 3/2 makes sense if all deserve PT. McSwain was be a big part of that puzzle. If he isn't ready we will see a steady diet of 3 guard sets. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners HoosierAloha and hoosha61 2 Quote
Trish Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 We have to go. RoJo James OG Morgan Tommy Besides James, this might be the best defensive line up i've seen in years... Quote
Miller'sTheMan Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 RoJo Blackmon OG Morgan Bryant Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersI guess a positive to this is that the new guys will quickly learn the "position less" basketball played under Crean for the following season. CuJo and Green will get used to guarding bigger wings and McSwain and JMo will get to guard a range of smaller wings/guards and bigger post players. Quote
Hovadipo Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Agree with Wayne and Aloha...NewkirkJimmyRobOGTomI think the first three coming off the bench (De'ron, Cujo, and Juwan) are going to be *awesome* and if we get solid minutes out of Fred Mac and/or Green that's just gravy. I get this vibe with Cujo that he's going to be an absolute monster sooner than later. I (and many here) are going to love this team. I can feel it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Lt. Like you posted, we'll see both the bigger wings (JMo, McSwain, and OG) and the smaller guards (RoJo, JBJ, CuJo, and Green) covering wings. Quote
Dalton26 Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 I'm hoping it's RojoJBJOGMorgan Bryant Newkirk never impressed me before he got here so unless he made some kind of jump I don't know about I'm skeptical. HoosierAloha 1 Quote

He made some kind of jump: He jumped to IU, to a running team, to Lionel's conditioning program, to Yogi as his mentor, to Tom Crean's offense, and to Hoosier Nation. He made a huge jump. southsidehoosier, ThompsonHoosier, Bobman1 and 7 others 10 Quote

Michigan fans were glad to see him go. A guy we don't win the Big Ten without was kicked off his previous team for all intents and purposes. IUsafety and hsrtxp 2 Quote

They were terrible at Purdue and now they're both starting at major SEC football schools. Not saying Pitt basketball is anywhere near as horrible of a program as Purdue football - just pointing that sometimes the system is the problem. Lt. John McClaine Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I'd like to have Newkirk come off the bench, ideally, but I think we need his speed in the starting 5. So, like others have said: Newkirk, JBJ, Robert, OG, & Bryant. A nice blend of quickness and size 6th man: Juwan Morgan Bench: Deron, CuJo, Green Quote

Brass Cannon Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Agreed Rojo, JBJ, OG, Morgan and Bryant is an insanely good line up that has a lot of size to boot. Would prefer to see our new guys come off the bench. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 My starting 5 is like most everyone's since Colin went down with the knee injury: Newkirk, Rojo, JBJ, TB, OG. But will that be the same starting lineup when B1G play opens? I'm not about to speculate but to me the only guaranteed starters come January are TB and OG. I think any of the 3 guard positions could be up for grabs. Quote
