For the sake of discussion, let's say Tom Brady never existed. Let's say Drew Brees played for the Pats all these years. Would they have less Super Bowls? The same number?

How about Aaron Rodgers instead? Or Peyton Manning?

The Patriots have been a complete team under Belicheck. Matt Cassell went 11-4 there. Jacoby Brissett won games. Jimmy Garoppolo.

Imo, the people who give all the credit to Brady don't understand football.

We could be friends.

I watch the NFL but am not a diehard fan of any one team.

Whether you like the Pats, Brady or the coach, you have to acknowledge the dynasty they've built.  As a kid, I worshiped the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers and absolutely despised the NY Yankees but you have to appreciate the Yankee dynasty nonetheless.  Same could be said for the Celtics in the Bill Russell era.

Do the Pats get favorable calls?  Sure they do and so do other teams in other sports at different times.  It's always more noticeable when the dynasty team is the beneficiary.  Do the Pats cheat?  Obviously.  They got caught.  Why do the football coaches cover their lips when they talk into their headphone?  Don't baseball teams try to steal signals?  Don't baseball pitchers get caught juicing the ball?  Basketball flopping?  Soccer flopping?  The rules are pushed to the limit and until some team is caught it's effectively "no harm, no foul".

Brady and the Pats didn't get to where they are solely because of officiating or cheating.

They've been caught cheating twice. I acknowledge nothing.

For close to 20 years they have been where they are. Like you said they didn’t get to where they were solely on cheating. I won’t watch them win another title, but glad it’s almost over.

Agreed. Those two things have gotten them to 3 Super Bowls though. The Tuck Rule was not only a horrendous call, it gave the Pats their first SB. Spygate gave them their 2nd. Yesterday's horrendous one-sided officiating got them to another.

Imo Bill Belicheck is the greatest coach in the history of the game. That has been a major part of their success. The cheating and the officiating helped sustain it.

The examples listed as cheating in other sports are absolutely nothing compared to the first time they were caught cheating in the playoffs. The second time, I'll give.. it's similar. No other sport has the type of preparation that football does for one single game. For them to have info on the game plan.. I still can't believe it.

They get caught and levied an NCAA type punishment as the evidence is destroyed. Do people think it was a one off or an agreement was made not to do it again? Please! (Bill Walton voice)

You can have "less talented" players and still win when you know what your opponent is going to run.

They've been caught cheating over and over but nothing gets done. Protect the shield! Not integrity.

Knowing the pats, they probably planned this all along so the colts miss out on all of coaches they wanted

Eh all the candidates were pretty underwhelming. He was just the best of the bunch, hope he fails and just gets shoved out of the NFL. Dbag

I bet they end up with Defilipo or Reich from the Eagles. That is better imo.

I'd be down for DeFlippio, from the way it sounded Sunday Reich didn't do much on the sideline Sunday...... though this was all coming from Collinsworth's mouth

Collinsworth needs to retire. Interesting though. Wonder if this brings Shaw into mix or other college coach?
