Go big or go home. Part of me is upset because why keep Grigs if that means losing this deal but another part is glad Irsay is at least not happy about the last two years either.

Brad Wells. What version have you seen? I'd much rather believe anything else.

Brad Wells is so lost.

Grudges turned it down because he didn't want to coach anymore nothing more nothing less is what I've read and as far as I've seen is Irsay is still trying to get Peyton.

To be fair, who are you getting info from. JMV, who has been able to get pretty good colts info over the years is pretty much in agreement with Brad Wells.

I didn't see JMV say that on Twitter. He talked about Manning not being ready to jump into it and Gruden just flat turned it down. Did he say something elsewhere? I didn't realize Gruden makes $6.5 million for ESPN with zero pressure while only working during the season 16 games and watching videos with QB's leading up to draft. Pagano makes $2 million less. I haven't found anything to say it was nothing more than a non-starter.

JMV has been saying on his radio show all week that Gruden was talking with Irsay. It was not a simple thanks but no thanks by Gruden as was suggested.

That is not what was suggested. I said nothing more nothing less as in nothing to do with wanting full control. JMV and Shefter both have said he turned it down and not even mentioned it having anything to do with the other stuff.

Ok you said he said no because he did not want to coach anymore. He could have talked all week and decided that. As for the rest of the story as Brad suggests, I have no idea if he has anything others don't but he and has been talking about how Irsay and Gruden were talking earlier in the week. JMV was one of the only others talking about this at the time. I guess since he was out in front on them talking it will be interesting to see if any of that holds true.

No idea of the other stuff has merit.

Both Brad and JMV are saying both gm and coach will be back now next year - no more looking which seems hard to believe

I agree there was more. They met up in Houston when Irsay was down there. But nobody has said anything about full control being the reason he wouldn't take it. I am sure there are a myriad of reasons. He makes $6.5 million at ESPN with no pressure on his schedule. Lack of trust in the GM. Current roster construction. Say he took it at $8 million. Full control. Are the hours worth giving up his current gig for $1.5 million having already won a Super Bowl? There is a reason Jimmy Johnson, Bill Cowher, Jon Gruden, and Bill Madden never got back into football. They make damn good money with no pressure and had been there and done that.

I think some of you are missing the point. Gruden is a very mediocre coach who alienates everybody within the organization. Years after he leaves a team, everybody still talks horribly about him. We dodged a bullet here...

FIRE HIM! This is embarrassing

So if Grigson and Pagano don't get replaced this offseason next year is going to be an utter joke. I get that none of us have any confidence in those two to do anything right, but for Irsay to just go behind their backs to contact guys and get told no.......

It happens a lot really when you are unsure of what you got or a better option is out there. The Cubs did it with Joe Madden. It's been rumored we tried to do that with Brad Stevens. UK got shot down by Donovan at the end of Billie Gillespie but picked up Calipari. Some say yes. Some don't.

This Knock em down fella has had some interesting tweets all week. No reason to believe him/her but he was one of the first to say gruden and one of the first to warn that things got too quiet on Friday. Like I said - no real reason to believe but as soon as Gruden thing went south and many were saying we stay with Pagano Knock em down said he would be let go this week.

We shall see

They were also the first to report Kevin Wilson to OSU. I really hope they're right, but everyone else seems to think the show's over.
