Well, it's actually Alabama and then a distant second OSU/Clemson. I don't see a better team than Alabama but in a one game championship O$U/ Clemson might get them.

Agreed. Just don't want to see OSU in it. Being a Hoosier in the buckeye state is tough during fball season.

If Alabama, Washington and Clemson win next week, those three teams along with Wisconsin or Penn St. should be in the playoffs. Although the history is brief, the CFP committee has only taken conference champions.

I think it changes this year though. Compare Washington's wins with O$U's. Is it that close? O$U would have a better loss as well. I don't like O$U but to say they're not deserving would be false.

The rankings will probably look like this next week:

1) Alabama

2) OSU

3) Clemson

4) Washington

5-6-7 Michigan-Wisconsin-PSU in some order

 

There's nothing OSU can do to further their case; they won't be playing. If the other three win, you can't drop them after winning a conference championship. If PSU wins, I don't see how anyone could justify taking OSU over them. Might be a different story if Wisconsin wins, though.

If CU beats Washington in PAC 12 championship things get really interesting. Bama, O$U, and Clemson are virtual locks assuming the two win their respective conference championships. If Washington loses in their championship the committee either takes the winner of Wisconsin/Penn State or Colorado.

This is what I am thinking as well. If Washington loses to Colorado, and Wisconsin beats PSU, I don't see how Wisconsin could be left out. Their two loses are a combined fourteen points to OSU and Michigan. They beat LSU. They are an excellent football team and deserve to get in if Washington loses.

If PSU beats Wisconsin, and Colorado beats Washington, who gets in? PSU or Colorado?

I just saw Greg Schiano mentioned. I doubt Chip goes back. I think I heard on a podcast the other day that he doesn't really like college.

Florida head coach Jim McElwain, who's from the northwest, seems to be the dream candidate. Whether or not he's actually interested is another story (by some chance this happens, does that open the door for Willie Taggart at UF?). Realistic candidates appear to be Dana Holgorsen of WVU and the Boise State head coach. I also wonder if Oregon would consider bringing back Scott Frost, head coach of Central Florida? Or is that too similar to another internal hire?

It's irrelevant now. He was given an 18 month show clause penalty so he'd be in the clear now.
