He grew up there, played there and was an assistant there. I'm guessing for most, that made it a natural fit. But home is where you hang your hat. ... I know Knight turned down Ohio State when he was at IU and many coaches have either spurned or left their alma maters (Rich Rod/WVU in football; Les Miles/Michigan in football; Darrin Horn/WKU in hoops), so going home or being home isn't always the best fit. 

Oh, one big one I forgot: Alford spurned IU (after IU spurned him, however) LOL!

Same here. Consider that Purdue is in the weaker side of the BT they have a good chance to build a contender on that side of the bracket annually. I would argue that helps make Purdue the better job.

All this is true. But Louisville is the better place to live.
