Uspshoosier Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Eye test is definitely important. I'll miss Friday's game too, but since so many people here are watching it, I'll just pay attention to their analysis. Doesn't narrow it down at all for Oregon games, I watch them all through streaming sites so it's always the same. Maybe I'll find an older game and check them out though.on a side note I really like that Oregon team even with the bad trip they just had to the Bay Area. Altman is very underrated coach in my opinion. Oregon and iu have one thing in common this year. A neutral site loss to Unlv Quote
MartintheMopMan Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 on a side note I really like that Oregon team even with the bad trip they just had to the Bay Area. Altman is very underrated coach in my opinion. Oregon and iu have one thing in common this year. A neutral site loss to Unlv The loss to Stanford was entirely expected too, it's like us losing @Wisco. The numbers may not expect it, but all the fans do. Altman is Oregon's Crean, they just don't know it because they don't have a proud enough tradition to get upset about their current predicament. He cannot field a defense and relies on teams with strong offenses to carry both sides of the court. It's pretty PAC-12 footballesque really. And like Crean, he has his weird exception year, where he had a top defense and lost in the Sweet Sixteen (same year actually), but for the most part he's a mediocre defensive coach who fails to make necessary adjustments ultimately costing his teams. Eventually, Oregon will decide they've been almost there long enough and try and find a coaching upgrade. How does Brad Stevens feel about the west coast? Quote
Uspshoosier Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 When a change is made and if it is not BS, then I hope they make a run at Tony Bennett again. He is 46 and in my opinion is one of the best coaches in the game today. I would like to see him have more sucess in the NCAA tournament maybe that will be this year. If I need to get my fix to watch fundamental basketball on both sides of the ball I will watch Virginia MikeRoberts, ChiHoosier5, Brass Cannon and 1 other 4 Quote

A chance to bring glory back to a historically blue blood program and more money could be reasons for him to come. I personally would love him as coach MikeRoberts 1 Quote

No idea what is accurate except he is a very good coach Quote

I personally would love him as coach I could see him jumping at Wiscy if they decide to not stick with Gard (which is looking like a worse idea every game he coaches). Quote

Coaches who only want to play one style will never be consistent title contenders. They may be able to compete for conference but not national titles. We saw that with Wisconsin. Indiana shouldn't strive to be Wisconsin. Defenserocks28 1 Quote

I honestly thought it was because he wanted/wants the Wisconsin job and knew coming to IU would mean forgoing ever coaching Wiscy (not very often coaches switch jobs in the same conference without some type of time in between). And the less attempts you have then the smaller room for error you have. You can't play Crean style but you can't play Bo Ryan style. You have to find a median. Play fast when needed and play slow when needed. And be successful at both. Knight was successful like that. Brad Stevens the same way. Greg Popovich has been successful that way. We can't hire a coach that is 100% only going to play one way no matter what. That is how we've gotten into the mess we're in now. Defenserocks28 1 Quote

Bo Ryan went to back to back final 4 with his system and if you think the reason they lost the national championship game because of the style of basketball they play I can't help you. There have been articles written that to be a national title contender you have to at least have a top 25 offense and defense. Bennetts last 3 years. 2014- off 21, def-5, 2015-off-24, def-1, 2016- off-12, def-9. Yea please sign me up Hoosier DaDa and Beowulf50 2 Quote

But he was able to do so because he had the talent to beat the other teams. Virginia may play "fast" at times but hardly. They're one of the slowest teams in country. This year they're averaging 71 points a game which is 207th in the nation. They're also averaging 62.9 possessions a game. That is dead last in the NCAA. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
