And people have given well detailed and well thought out reasons why they believe that winning on any level translates. Perhaps you should follow your own advice and reread the topic.

Lol. Dude just because someone posts something doesn't mean it's well thought out. Congrats to Marshall for winning at the MVC level. He is one hell of a coach. There are coaches like him at various levels that do the same. D1, 2, and 3. Could they all coach at IU? The funny thing is Marquette wants to get back to Crean level success.

I actually enjoy reading this debate. For once it's 2 guys with strong opinions one way or another with valid points on each side instead of just cheap shotting each other. I feel like this is the true reason for this board. Keep up the good work.

The conversation seemed pretty open and respectful initially. Most of the discussion was about sharing info on young coaches. It is not like people were saying all these guys are an upgrade. Seemed like a good discussion.

To bad we can't have a good discussion about good young coaches without people thinking we are claiming they are obviously better than Crean.

Crean and Marshall went head to head last year in tourney on neutral court. I would probably even give the talent edge to IU but that's just one man's opinion. Results did not favor Crean.

 

With that said I do not think Marshall is the answer.

No. When's the last time I "modded" something for a general statement. I talk to the poster if there have been issues behind the scenes talked about.

Please, show me where I was insulting posters. Would it be better if I started with a woe is me, Crean sucks, IU sucks, then followed up with if people comparing MVC conference titles with Conference USA or B1G titles sound dumber than shit? Is that better? I mean that's how this stuff starts. I said I want a different coach but some of you guys just think you can throw shit against a wall and sound smart. The people I am discussing don't. I am just in awe at how much a portion of this fan base has fallen off over the years. I hope it's just people trying to prove in their way Crean is the wrong man for the job. But get real.

I think Marshall is a better in game coach than Crean. I have my doubts he can recruit here or fulfill other areas required to be coach at IU.

Sorry I keep bombarding the boards with KenPom stats, but here are some more. The following list of coaches and the amount of season they have had their teams in the top 50 Adjusted Offense and the top 50 Adjusted Defense. The list is from 2002 - 2015

 

Not a lot of young talent on the list but enjoy!!

Seems all of your posts in this thread are combative. Several of the names mentioned in here had comments about them not being ready for an IU level. This thread just did not seem to have all the Crean hate and seemed a good discussion until you and Brass took it south.

Dixon surprised me to be that high as well.

 

I knew Huggins could coach, but couldn't believe he was that high either. I know he is getting old and has had some negative things follow him around but if you would have put him at a big time program like IU, UNC, Kansas, UCLA I think it would have been scary.

 

Also JTIII impressive.
