Gak, Bamba, Richards, Preston. Gak visits in 2 weeks. Other 3 something would have to change but focusing on them solely till spring could do that.

I thought we were out of all those except Gak and would we really take Gak over Waters?

I 100% agree with pap here. Wilkes is still número uno. Waters or a traditional big as the 5th. Space will be there for a 5th if need. That 5th spot may need to be a spring type signing and could help or hinder chances. I say we go whole hog to get Wilkes as an early period signing though.

Loving the roster versatility of Wilkes, Moore, Smith. So much versatility with these guys.

Didn't Durham measure a 6-10 wingspan somewhere? I could be totally making that up but thought I read that somewhere. That's versatility as well. I could see him guarding 1-3 after a year or two in the program.

They really like Waters. I think the point is moot though bc they'll take a Gak commit which is happening before a Waters decision if Waters sticks to that spring timeline.

I guess I value things differently but I do think Waters is going to be a special college player.

Oops. i think Trae Young said he isn't deciding till spring. Walk back the Gak/Waters being a moot point.

Yeah, I believe Waters wants to decide by early signing period.

Blackmon...........Durham
Hartman....... Smith
OG............Wilkes
TB..........Moore (kind of)
Priller.........(add talent. A big or Waters or any talent)

Also I could see Gelons spot used if we get to a bind and Blackmon, OG, or Hartman return.

The saddest thing about all these recruits is the idea of losing TB, OG, and JB early. Those guys will be REALLY hard to replace. As excited as I get about recruiting I truly hate the idea of losing that talent.

At least we are better positioned to survive the losses than we were in 2013.

Get Wilkes on top of others and Crean can do whateva he wants with scholly 5.

Granted a splashy 5th recruit won't hurt my feelings.

Side note- I feel really good right now regarding Chuck Martins eye for talent and Crean. ( hoping the Priller/April business was some odd alternate universe that has an inside explanation).

If we do land Wilkes and Waters or a good big that would be two excellent recruiting classes back to back.  The top end of the 2014 class was solid but the lower end really failed us.  I really hope this means recruiting is balancing out and we're headed to complete stabilization.

I like what we have going for us. Next year we have DD, J Mo, Moore & Smith can play the small 4 along w McSwain. Then with Newkirk, RoJo, CuJo, Green, Gelon, Durham & I'm guessing Wilkes or Waters or both. We have enough up front but it would be nice for one more though it don't look like its in the cards unless its Billy Preston, which looks like a long shot as is. I think we may be able to grab a graduate big in case we really need one. Recruiting never stops specially here we all know that.

When you see it typed out, we really need another big for next year, one that can play right away. I love Morgan, but he's really undersized at the 5, and while they can play the 4 those other guys are 3/4's. We'll need another true big guy. If Davis were to miss any time (fouls, nagging injury, etc.) we'd be in trouble.

5 - Davis
4 - JMo, McSwain
3 - Wilkes, Smith
2 - RoJo, CuJo
1 - JN, Green

Spot minutes: Durham, Gelon, Moore

You're good with one 5 on the entire roster? McSwain, Wilkes and Smith are 3/4's and while JMo can play some 5, he's undersized at that spot. That works when you're playing 300rpi schools in the non-conference and conference schools like Rutgers, but not against the big boys like MSU, Louisville, Duke, UNC, UK, etc.

If you can play Moye at the 4 against Boozer, then you can play Morgan at the 5.

Maybe when Morgan is at the 5, we put in Moore at the 4.  He's still 6'10 and could theoretically provide some help around the basket defensively even if he isn't playing the 5.
