After rewatching highlights it’s quite possible that my review of Damezi would be different had his 4th quarter been his 1st quarter shooting wise. There’s no doubt the two 3s he hit in the 4Q were clutch with not much space. I just felt his early shots were forced a bit and didn’t need to be. If he has proper spacing and room to shoot, I could see him being deadly from deep.

Part 2
RP, E. Hunter- I’ve haven’t hidden the fact that I’m a huge fan of RP’s game. Ever since he led his team to the class 4a state finals as a sophomore I have kept an eye on him. He is the definition of true point guard. His first half is exactly what I was wanting to see from him. He literally had to do everything himself to keep his team in the game. He got to his spot on the court at will and hit some really tough pull ups. Rebounded better then I would of thought. He put his teammates in position they just couldn’t hit anything in the first half In my opinion if you surround him with players he will make the right decision more times then not. I feel he will start from day 1 and I am confident he will be ready. He fouled out on a couple questionable calls but handled like you would want your future pg to handle it. During a timeout he walked over to the ref that fouled him out and had a conversation about the call and ended up shaking hands and walking back to the bench. I can’t speak for everyone but I’m glad the staff prioritized him from day 1 and think as highly of him as I do. Hunter was always an intriguing recruit to follow and track. I first heard of him when he transferred from Pike to Tindley. My concern with him has always been level of competition he played against by being in class A. I watch class A basketball and while I love it, it’s just a different game then high level 4a. For me scoring 43 points against Indiana math and science doesn’t give me a good evaluation. Each time I watched him play upper level teams last year his team lost so I was skeptical. Like others he has improved since last year. He is a very smooth scorer. Some will want to do it but there is no way you can compare Hunter with RP. Hunter has a specific skill scorer)and is not asked to do much more then that. RP will be asked to do more and will have more put in his shoulders. I can’t vision hunter playing PG in college. To me he is a Very athletic SG. I questioned if he was a D-1 talent and I was wrong to do so. Purdue got a good one.
Anderson, Hunter- Anderson struggled mightily in the first half. Shot wasn’t fallen. I liked the fact that he continued to rebound despite the struggle. Defense will be a work in progress. If he wants to be a good defender in college he has the tools to do so. He played better in 2nd half and hit 2 big contested threes at the end of the game. South Bend Riley ran the same play 3 straight times to get him shots. Hunter is an interesting recruit. His size and length give him a chance to special as a wing or big guard. In an interview he said again that IU is telling him he was recruited to play guard. He needs to improve on his handles for this to happen but if he tightens then up watch out. He plays with a fire that you need if u want to be good. They had another kid on the team that is going to Miami (Ohio) that plays well along side him. It took him time to get going but he had stretches where as an IU fan you should be really excited. I always like a chance to see kids live so I’m glad his team made the drive. The ejection was overblown. The pro IU crowd let the gym know their dissatisfaction with the foul outs of hunter and RP. I came to watch them play not sit. Hunter said some words and got a T and I believe he didn’t know he got ejected he was walking back to the bench to sit but there was some confusion.

Romeo, Brooks- nothing needs to be said about him that hasn’t already been said. He is special and will make any program better. I don’t know where people are getting that he is leading Indiana fans on but I just don’t see it. While watched the game before as he was sitting in the stands I watched him sign and talk to every little Indiana fan that come up to him also after the game he stayed 40 min after to sign autographs for young kids. In the state of Indiana he is a 18 year old super star and from what I see is handling it with class. Every IU fan that went to watch him play last night knew going in to watch him that there is a chance he won’t end up being a Hoosier so I’m not seeing the leading IU on narrative. He is one of the best players I have had a privilege to watch live. Romeo Langford’s don’t grow on trees so if he is within driving distance I would suggest making that drive. IU fans will do their part to show the love all year. Now it’s time to let an 18 year old make and respect his college choice. Me, you, and IU will all be fine regardless of his choice

Brooks had a bad game. It happens sometimes it’s not your night. I feel bad for the IU fan that waited to see him play and see this performance. If you would of went to last years game you would of said he was a top 5 recruit, if you went to this one you would question if he is a top 50 player. He will be a heavily sought after recruit regardless of how he played yesterday. No one is going anywhere. He wants to be on the wing and doesn’t like to bang at all. He had some instances yesterday that would make a scout drool. Long way to go in this recruitment
Can’t wait until the 2018 forum tip-off classic

How is RP's shooting range?

#Indiana bound point guard Rob Phinisee isn’t bashful about letting the ball fly. Has a lot of confidence in his pull-up jumper.

#Purdue bound Eric Hunter and #Indiana bound Robert Phinisee both playing very well. Like Phinisee’s ability to play to and through contact, Hunter nice all around game.

As he solidifies his ball handling, Indiana bound Jerome Hunter is going to have a chance to play at the highest level. Good skill and looks like can be a legit wing.

Eric Bossi

A couple thoughts from a national scout

For me personally from watching RP his confidence in his shot has stood out in his senior year. A consistent jumper was something he needed to work on I believe he has shot around 38 percent from 3 so far in his career. I’m not sure what his number is this year but I would guess it has improved. His improved athleticism is something I’ve noticed and some scouts have made comments about

Those of you that was able to make it to watch Pickerington North. What do you think of Jerome’s teammate #23 Elli Macnamara?? What little footage I’ve seen of him on YT, he doesn’t look too shab. But then again it’s video of our man Jerome

I’ve got family up in Whiteland and was up there for thanksgiving. Went to watch my nieces and nephews game in Greenwood on a Saturday. Nice league compared to what my kids play in down in Lake Cumberland area in KY

Nice player. Mid-major guy I would think. Played hard and was physical.  Was getting crap from a fan under the basket and every time he scored on that end he would look at the guy and smile. I like him.

Thanks for info. Yeah from videos I’ve watched, I like the way he plays. Looks like a physical player. What kind of size he got? 6’8ish?

Little bigger. Listed at 6'10",  probably 6''9".  Made a couple of jump hooks over his right shoulder through contact. Competed. Ran hard. Struggled a little bit laterally. But that might not be fair, he was defending 6'5" guys who were better athletes.

That seems exactly right. He'll be a good player at that level.

I was sitting next to a guy from Columbus Ohio.He seemed to know everything about the team.
He also said Hunter was a good kid and the techs and ejection were out of character.

Everything about that deal was a mess. The foul call that got him the 1st T was just awful. And, yes, he should have shut up on the 2nd one, but he was leaving the court and not talking to anyone in particular. The T didn't calm the situation, it escalated it. Hopefully a teachable moment for him. I had a pretty good angle out the gym door from my seat and he was out there pacing and sort of ranting to himself for several minutes afterwards. I think he knew he'd made a mistake, but it was a little odd. And don't I remember both CAM and his HS coach talk about what a quiet kid he is? From the moment that kid walked into the gym until they walked him out, he never shut up.

It’s less then a month away. Just seeing if any other members are going. I recommend this event for any hoops junkie within driving distance. Only IU game that I will watch on the DVR instead of live. $10 gets you 6 Indiana high school games at 1 gym
