Rounding out the '16 class...

So true. No more off-court issues. Hopefully, Elston will help with that as I heard him being interviewed and he said he's kind of like a guidance counselor and has been instructing them on how to conduct themselves properly as IU basketball players.

I don't think a great season wins back the fans. Most fans I know are eyeing next season as his make or break year. i do think a good year helps with recruiting and we need to have a great year bc 2017 is a huge class in state. Lots of talent close to home that like IU.

Can anybody actually link me to video of Thon playing in an actual game and not looking lost?  The only time I have ever seen him look good is in highlight vids.

I keep racking my brain about this. I'd love Rawle, but if JBJ stays, between him, RJ, CuJo, and Newkirk, I feel out backcourt is already crowded. If there's a need that we need filled next year it's at the wing position, which Thon could potentially fill.

Its not like Cujo is going to be ready to contribute day 1 necessarily.  And not sure Newkirk will ever demand that large of a role.

It's tough to tell with Newkirk, I look at a guy like Tyler Lewis who transferred from NC State to Butler who didn't really play well at NC State but is now lighting it up at Butler so far. I think Newkirk can be a fine player here.

I think he can be a contributor for sure.  I just am not comfortable with him starting.  I don't think he got that kind of potential.  Thats why I think Brown could have started Day 1.

We are already pretty freaking bad at holding onto the basketball.  Its going to be even worse if we don't get somebody who is a better ball handler.

If the NCAA actually does its job and punishes UNC and the let the athletes out of their LOI I would hope we would be active towards Seventh Woods.

I think we are going to be pleasantly surprised by Newkirk.  He has always been known for his quickness and speed and athleticism. Remember how he lit us up on drives when Pitt played us in The Hall.  But--people forget his outside shot was coming along before his injury.  For example, he had a 5/5 3-point shooting game against NC State and scored 20 points in that one.  He is going to be getting a lot of shots up this season in practice and I am hoping for big things from him next year!

Exactly, Crean's system is pretty favorable to guards too.

We definitely need a wing and I would be happy with Thon or Diallo.  If Rawle or Gordon want to join I'm more than happy to take either on of them too.  If Rawle chooses IU he'll start from day one, guaranteed.  We could easily run a three guard lineup with JBJ, Rawle, and RoJo with DD and TB in the front court.  Having CuJo and Newkirk coming off the bench and OG and Colin capable of playing on the wing with the second unit would be solid.

Josh should thrive in Crean's fast pace offense.

After watching his prep highlights I really wonder why he chose Pitt's plodding style in the first place.

If his Knee is healed I expect this kid to be a good one.

I wasn't real excited about the Newkirk signing but I will say Crean will have the kid shooting better no doubt in my mind.

Jeff Borzello @jeffborzello
Spire Institute guard Marcus Ottey had his second impressive game here. 38 points. Hit some 3s today too. Unsigned senior. #NPS

Brian Flinn @F150Bflinn
Brewster wins 94-77, Marcus Ottey may be the real winner though. Going to see recruitment take off #NPS

Elias Sbiet @Elias_NPH
I would be shocked if Marcus Ottey doesn't pick up at least 2 more offers after this performance #NPS

You've pointed out two games against bad defensive teams, and he's played two years. The kid isn't a shooter. He wasn't in high school either. He isn't a terrible addition, but you have taken two exceptions and made them the rule. There's a larger sample size from this kid, and it strongly suggests he isn't much of a shooter. He can score around the rim though, and he will have more opportunities to do that (and distribute) at IU than at Pitt.

Never heard of him. Is IU after this kid?
