A look at the future

The truth question is, when will the boycott ever begin?

I keep telling myself it will but I keep ending up on BTB's daily to see people's POV on the thread I posted. Like drug rehab, I will likely need to ween off. Cold turkey is not a route I'm equipped to travel.

I was wondering when someone was going to call me out.

stick around. The ride might be bumpy, but we'll get to the light at the end of the tunnel.

And in 5 years, no matter what, fans will still find something to complain about

If we have a nationally relevant program that is keeping their nose clean and routinely giving us something to be proud about, the noise will be reduced to a soft whisper. Of course there will always be those that refuse to be happy regardless of the situation, but dont fool yourself into believing it will be the same as now.

I think that we will have a new head coach and be rebuilding all over again........its gonna be a long road for us

Not if yoy get the right guy but something needs to change. Things are not working and you cannot continye to have such massive roster turnover each year.

Will we ever overcome the Bob Knight curse?? I am becoming more and more doubtful.

Think Dane Fife.  Recruited by Knight at the end of his tenure so all the Knight era hangeronners should be appeased.  Hardnosed kid without RMK's abrasiveness.  Played his heart out for IU.  Has minimal head coaching experience but he's been studying under a pretty damn good coach in Tom Izzo and from where does Izzo recruit the majority of his players?  The midwest.  I think he'd be well worth the gamble as our head coach.

Crean studied under that same coach, and didn't learn a damn thing.

Quick, can you tell me how many NCAA champions have had a majority of their scholarship players from the midwest since Indiana last won the championship?

I'll give you a hint. Outside of two rosters I can't confirm, it's the same number of times I've been intimate with Jaybob's mother.

I didn't mean to imply that we should only recruit from the midwest because we shouldn't.  But, it's no secret that CTC hasn't been overly successful in that regard and yet Izzo has drawn some very good talent from Indiana and Ohio.  I believe Fife would have connections that we seemingly don't have.  Bottom line, I think Fife would be a more overall effective recruiter and more capable of putting a product on the court that would resemble a quality basketball team and not a soap opera.  Just my opinion.
