IMO there's no way he gets the boot with an elite 8 finish. That would largely be considered a success I think. I also don't think we should lend much thought to his recruiting class. It doesn't matter if the results aren't there come March

If we let Crean go after an Elite 8 season we would have serious problems finding a coach that would want to come in to that. That would be crazy.

One elite 8 run isn't going to make up for years of mediocrity and underachievement.  Including the mediocre season I was making that comment too.

 

If Crean doesn't have a good class coming in next year and we are set for another down year.  I think we will give him the boot.  If we are going to have a down year, might as well have a down year with a new coach.

An Elite 8 run shouldn't excuse a complete failure to build a consistently competitive program with all the resources he has been given.

I'm a realist. I see a 26-10 record. 4th in B10. 5 seed in tournament with an Elite Eight loss to an eventual national champ.

If that's the case then crean should be fired the day the season end. That is simply not acceptable at this point anymore. He has used up all of his excuses.

He should have been fired after the abomination that these last three seasons have been.

It depends on how he coaches that team in the elite eight and what type of talent he has the following year.

During Creans tenure he's had two years where he had overwhelming talent that is or was capable of winning a national championship.

If all he's able to do is get owned tactically in the sweet sixteen and elite eight, why hold on to him if he isn't capable getting us over the hump?
I know most of u are content with that but look at our fan base . We're large enough to have multiple fan base sights compete for viewership. We buy tons merchandise and one of the best schools in attendance. We're not some no name school just happy to be in the field, we should demand better results.

Lets see we are gonna do the same thing over again should we expect a different result? Bryant in the middle getting beat to death and 4 guys on the perimeter chucking threes. We will look good early to mid season then take our usual Crean Crap Out to finish the season. A Northwestern loss? Crean will still be standing on the sideline yelling Go Go Go but to no avail. A second round tourney loss then Glass will pledge his full support. We prepare to do it all over again in 2016-17.

The Warriors and Bulls were able to fire coaches after 50 win seasons. Obviously we aren't either nor an NBA team. But the Warriors were a case where the grass was MUCH greener on the other side. But I don't think this roster screams Final Four right now either. I think an Elite 8 appearance would be huge.

Frankly, I don't think Glass fires Crean period.  I think Glass is too much of a Crean fanboy, no matter how mediocre the results.  I stand by my opinion that the only way we're getting rid of Crean is to get rid of Glass.
