Now that thons off the board for this season

Why does Priller waste a scholly more than Etherington did; than jeff oliphant did; than chuck franz did; than etc, etc, etc did?

What does Priller really do? It's blatantly obvious that he doesn't belong.

I think impact front-line players for 2015 are all gone. Why not tuck the scholly in the back pocket and recruit two big men for 2016-17? Best-case scenario: We go into that season with three big men (assuming Maker chooses us). Worse case scenario, Maker goes elsewhere, Bryant is one-and-done and this pocketed scholly still gives us a big man for the season after next. Middle-case scenario: We end up with two big men for '16-'17 -- Bryant and this guy or Maker and this guy. Banking it makes a lot of sense to me.

Bryant most likely isn't a one and done. There is a better chance of him being a 3 year player.

I don't get banking the scholarship. And I mean what does it really hurt to give it to a kid like Burton who has worked his ass off.

Given the issues we have had in recent years retaining walk-on's year-to-year (not meant to flame anyone, just a casual observation), this sends a great message.  Come in, work hard, and if the chips fall...the program may be able to offer you a  B1G scholarship your senior year.

so then we can have another scholly at the end of the bench.

I agree man, while it's a nice gesture and it looks good in the Newspaper, we need to use this scholarship for a good player, not a walkon player that's a good guy. Believe it or not, there's still players out there that can help us, and I think we need another guard. If one of our 4 guards gets hurt then we're in real trouble.

Careful, some people on here are under the impression that Etherington was a good player and was given a raw deal. How'd he do at Butler last year, again?

He did better than several of our scholarship players on a team that accomplished more than IU.

Don't see why people feel like they need to take jabs at him

same reason people take jabs at other players and our current coach because it is a message board and they can

Well because he transferred. They have to make it seem that it was great that he left.

Last season for AE:

12 minutes per game, 26% from 3pt, 38% from the floor, more turnovers than assists.

Nice guy and good teammate? Sure.

A positive contributor on the court?  Not quite, and no better with Butler than he was with us.

Funny. So many posters found the silver lining in just about everything AE did on the court here.
