Total revenue and expenses per school in B1G (IU is 9th)

Recommended Posts

Seen this tweet from ITH.  Here are the revenues from all B1G schools.  Indiana isn't close in revenue and actually spend a good portion of their money on Basketball.  Yearly they bring in around $30 million from basketball.  What do you guys think about this?  Does this make you appreciate Fred Glass anymore with the upgrades done under his watch?

Edit:  Here is the real look at the finances.

We are number 30 overall.  If you click on Indiana it shows a 10 year breakdown.  10 years ago our revenue was in the mid $30s.  That is astonishing.  The network has helped.  This last year we had almost $17 million in contributions, and $17 million in ticket sales.  The thought we have this crazy amount of pull imo may be overselling to a degree.

I am purely on the fence.  However since Crean came on board, contributions every year has been over $10 million.  Now I can see why Glass is so adamant on Crean being the coach and basically laughing at everyone when we felt he should be on the hot seat.  Glass job is to bring in money.  He is doing that with Crean like it or not.

I mean...damn...drug dealers and pimps are jealous of that kind of rate of return...

Not now that its legal there...they will take a big hit...(pun intended)

Not surprised at all. Oregon residents who have never seen a college application latch on the ducks like a calf to a cow.

What's the Oregon stigma?

I'm just saying that U Oregon has done a phenomenal job of becoming synonymous with the state of Oregon. Oregon is already a huge pride state, more than half the cars have bumper stickers proudly citing their love for Oregon and UO cashes in on that by making things like their O one of those stickers. I've never seen the blanket level of fandom that I see here, you can talk Ducks football with absolutely anyone you meet unless they were a beaver.

So, UO has jumped on this and just leveraged the crap out of it and it wouldn't surprise me for all their revenue to be totally legit because of it. It's easy to sell-over your 54,000 seat stadium (since they are usually closer to 59k) week after week when it isn't just alums who are excited about the game.

Heck, I've only lived here about 14 months and I somehow have a closet full of Ducks gear and plans to go to their basketball games. I don't even know how it happened.

Phil Knight matches every dollar in revenue the Quackers take in.
