IU Men's BBall Gets Perfect APR Score Again

The NCAA recognized IU for the third year in a row for it's perfect Academic Progress Rate (APR) in Men's Basketball.  If I remember correctly that makes 5 years in a row with a perfect score of 1000 on the APR!  Coach,  Marni , and the players should get a lot of credit for their academic efforts with the teams over the last several years. Top notch. IU---where we value basketball AND education!  Way to go Hoosiers!

Well done Darko!  Interesting fact being reported that we are one of only 8 schools who had perfect APR recognition and made the NCAA tourney.  That is the definition of STUDENT--ATHLETE!

UK has a long history of turning kids who struggled in high school into 4.0 students. I remember Calipari bragging about this a few years back.  They must use the same academic curriculum for their BBall team that UNC used! Yeah--I went there!  :rtfm:

maybe we can acknowledge the fact that the APR isn't that impressive...

Are IU basketball players consistently going to class? Absolutely. Every day.

Are IU basketball players completing their work on a regular basis? Yes.

Are IU basketball players given a good amount of leeway by professors? Yes. From what I have seen, some are, yes.

They're going to class, taking legitimate college level classes, and doing their work for the most part, while still also getting some breaks here and there. Better than a lot of other programs could say, I imagine.

I've only had a few classes with athletes, but I've seen "regular student" after "regular student" get break after break after break in the course of attending 2 universities and 1 college.

Can confirm. Got into Law School, had a 3.5 GPA senior year of undergrad and worked 2 jobs during that time. Went to the bars 4 to 5 days a week most weeks.
