Smith named to the preseason All-Chicago team. He starts his season off tonight.

Perhaps the most explosive athlete in the senior class, Stevenson’s Justin Smith is capable of scoring from the outside or around the basket.  At 6’7″ with tremendous leaping ability, Smith caught the eye of scouts as a sophomore starter on Stevenson’s 4A state championship team. As a junior last season, Smith was forced into a leadership role with the Patriots. Despite some inconsistent play, Smith averaged 17 points and 8 rebounds en route to a conference title. Now a senior, Smith will look to lead Stevenson even further this season.

I think it's more that he is used to being a role player and not the Alpha.
Sounds like he needs to grow into that role. Or he'll be a talented role player at worst.

I feel like he's too bright a kid to not improve dramatically. We may need a little patience, but the bust players tend to be athletic and a bit uninspired from the neck up.

Justin is very squared away and very athletic, just a little raw.

Stevenson defeated Grayslake Central 62-36.  Smith with 22 pts.

Stevenson goes 4-0 and wins the BG Thanksgiving Tournament. Smith named Tourney MVP 24.5ppg, 10rpg, 63% FG. Scored his 1000th career point to.

So happy we got this guy!! He could be a very good player for us!! I think he see's a lot of minutes as a freshmen even if we get Tucker. I like our nucleus for the future tho. DD, CuJo, Juwan & this kid make me have a lot of faith that we will be atop the B1G for the future. Until then let's get us a title!!

DeRon, Juwan, CuJo, RoJo, Josh, Zak, Devonte and Justin is a pretty solid core to start with, and I expect us to add one more substantial contributor.

We'll be good...or better than good.
