Remember when PU was pissed about Dawson saying something was shady with him and that they only signed Valentine because he was friends with Dawson.  Can the same logic now be applied towards Purdue?

Heck yeah!  And Message Boards are the perfect place to discuss it.  I had forgotten about that recruitment IUALUMNI.  That caused a lot of bad blood for awhile.

Lol, don't even. Some of you are horrible with this type of behavior. If a kid is committed here he is great, on the up and up, or is a sleeper. If he commits somewhere else he isn't really all that great, is overrated, our guys (Bryant) are clearly better than theirs (Swanigan and Stone), etc.

I don't remember anyone saying Trey Lyles wasn't going to be any good once he switched to kentucky.
I changed my opinion of him as a person I gave two shots about but didn't question his ability.

I meant everyone was bashing his personality and leadership skills that I knew. They were all saying how we didn't even want him here. Frankly, I was a part of it too.

I remember it as his father was getting most of the bashing. I don't know?

Eh some did go after the kid, like they always do. The majority was on his dad, but there are always some who take it to that other level

I agree with Mike Roberts on Lyles.  Similarly, there has been minimal personal bashing of Swanigan on here. I know I have not.  Like Lyles he is a good player.   Many of us have questioned his recruitment and his handler/guardian and the Nike versus Adidas issue but I would argue those are legit discussion issues.  Even my good friends that went to Purdue privately acknowledge that (like Thon) they love Swanigan's talent but are concerned about his potential baggage.  Even Purdue fans are scratching their heads over his decommit from MSU and it is suspicious to say the least. No need to lecture all of us who bring up and discuss legit issues. I also don't buy the argument that IU posters agree that everyone who commits here is great.....just the opposite seems to be true. Often--I think the fanbase is too hard on our new recruits---"wasted scholly---they're not good enough, etc".  I say keep the personal attacks on players AND POSTERS to a minimum and discuss the issues.  That's what a message board is for----and I hope we are allowed to be a little pro-IU in our discussions since this is an IU message board.  LOL!

First off, where was the personal attack?

Second, this couldn't really be further from the truth. There are a handful of exceptions (April, MSB), people talked JBJ up to be a super star, he wasn't. They talked up Rojo to be something be wasn't. The movement was an unmitigated disaster outside of Yogi, yet people talked like that was a dynasty in the making. And now with OG people are making him out to probably be something he won't be. You guys do this every off-season. Funny you talk about conversational topics, but really you're just upset I didn't agree with you. Instead of actually getting into a discussion you passively replied to my statement while alluding to personal attacks which weren't there

Ummm--King ---you linked my comment about Swanigan's recruitment to your post about somehow posters were bashing Swanigan.  Sure seemed by quoting my post it was directed at me.  I just think there are TWO sides to this and questioning his recruitment is legitimate.

King ---I am trying to figure out if your comments that "some of you are horrible with this type of behavior" or they "go after the kid like they always do" refers to me?  If so---I disagree.  I always try to avoid personal attacks and often compliment the players on opposing teams. I do point out the exceptions like Lyles and Swanigan when there is something strange with the recruitment.  I don't recall ever having issues with you and don't want there to be in the future.
