IF Yogi were to leave

Recommended Posts

I feel without doubt the majority of IU supporters want Yogi to return for this coming season. Does anyone feel IF Yogi were to leave, is there a player out there whether juco or immediately eligible transfer who could come in and make the team better?

It would be very disappointing.  Yogi is on pace to contend for B1G POY next year.  The progression he's made since his freshman year is amazing.

I don't know that there's anybody who could step in and make the team better than being led by a senior point as decorated as Yogi.  The whole team would need to change strategies.  Maybe we could still be good (I don't know), but I don't know of anybody that could replace a senior Yogi, no.

If yogi were to leave so would all the renewed excitement in the fan base. I may be the only one but after we struggled down the stretch I was bummed and the only thing I wanted to see was crean getting out of btown but with the Thomas Bryant commitment I am excited for next season. If yogi leaves not so much lol

Will this team be good as it could've been should Yogi leave? Certainly not. Will it still be in good shape? Yeah. Robert Johnson is a very capable PG. Zeisloft can back him up. Everything will be ok regardless of what Yogi decides. But all the same pray that he comes back. This team could be scary good if he comes back.

Z would not back him up it would be Troy and that would be disastrous, because Crean let's troy play out of control. If Yogi leaves we're in big trouble. This would be the 3rd year we're missing something. 1st it was shooters, then size, and now a true pg (if yogi leaves obviously). Crean's unbalanced recruiting and constant player transfer would cost him again.

Pretty much what Josh said.

Rojo can play PG and play it well. But he'd be different than YF who is very difficult to defend.

If Yogi left, there would be a void in leadership and a "go to" senior, but let's face facts...Yogi often dribbles too much and goes through phases where he looks for his shot and his points too much, also.   Indiana is better with him, but if he weren't there, the team would ultimately be forced to move the ball more and probably have a better offensive flow sometimes.   We'd miss him most in transition, but I think we'd be better defensively without him because we'd be forced to play "longer."

Yogi's a special player, but he's also a career 42% shooter.    His shot selection sometimes hurts more than helps, and he's much better and much more effective when he lets the game come to him.  I think if he left, we'd be forced to play a game without a guy trying to force things; and it might actually produce a more efficient offense.    For all the great things he is, I sometimes feel like he tries to showcase himself too much,.

This would be an addition by subtraction fellas! For him to be this full of himself, then it would be best for this team that would need a leader that he clearly isn't made for.

I don't want to misinterperet what you're saying, so I'll ask...are you saying we're better if Yogi leaves?

If yes: I've never (respectfully) disagreed with anything more in my life.

If no: Sorry.

How do you know he's full of himself? Do you know him? You're making assumptions and sound ridiculous.
