Swanigan was just a classic example of getting to the party too late. The kid developed overnight. He had offers from Purdue and Chicago St early but then all of a sudden he lost some weight and started playing better and got a bunch of national attention. IU came late to the party and I think Swanigan was a little butt hurt that we didn't offer early like Purdue. I think he would've been a great addition but he made it known very early in his recruitment that he was just waiting for an offer from MSU or Kentucky and thats about it.

 

Swanigan is also an example of a high school player who lives in the house of a professional sports agent.

 

Not saying that our staff doesn't entertain kids with "handlers' (Thon), but Swanigan's handler is a freakin' pro agent!

Of course seeing that his agent played both Basketball and Football at Pludoo  got them on the list as a favor.

 

Roosevelt Barnes in his day was an incredible athlete. He was probably a Major league baseball prospect but he simply could not hit a curve ball. I played against him at Ft Wayne South Side and he could crush a fastball a country mile, but would almost break an ankle chasing curves.

 

Now he is pretty shady IMO as an agent . UK will pay for his [Swanigan] services as always.

In any event...this could end up turning into a wholly political thread ( :( ) and should probably get back on point. I shall attempt to do so:

 

Caleb Swanigan: the second coming of Jared Sullinger. Will only play for a Nike school. Has a pro player agent as his benefactor. May play his college ball at either Kensucky or Chicago State.

I know swanigan and live near him and have watched him play many times. His schools he's really watching are Michigan state purdue duke and Arizona. Not a chance he is coming to IU.

Take it for what it's worth, there has been crystal ball movement (including Jerry Meyer) for Swanigan to Cal.  

 

Spitballing here, but maybe a Cuonzo Martin connection to Roosevelt Barnes?

I kind of hope they go to Cal because, as good as they are, I think they would fade into obscurity out there. Still really good individual players but i don't see that team having success in the Pac 12
