JBJ is an outstanding basketball player and I am glad that he is in the stripes.

Here are a couple of reality points that might have contributed to the 2nd half of the season:

1.  He had a hard time adjusting to the speed and size of college ball.

2.  He realized in December that he wasn't a one-and-done.

3.  He has a lot to work on in his game (especially defense).

4.  He wasn't going to be the B1G Freshman of the Year.

JBJ is used to being on top.  Maybe these points have something to do with it.  Transferring is not the answer!  Being mature and working on the things that will make you great will get you back on top.  Realize that this is a team game. Style points and highlight reels won't win games.

You will be fine next year!

I sure hope that you are right, but he is not to grow any or get any faster and defense is not in his vocabulary.

You have obviously never worked out a day in your life or you would know better.. Or maybe this is dripping with sarcasm and I'm missing it

Oh? Do you know him personally to be able to say that?

No I do not, you must,  so tell me is he going to grow any?  I do not need to know him to tell that he will not get any faster.  I really hope you are right about his defensive skills.  Go Hoosiers

What does me working out have to do with I.U. basketball, or is that sarcasm.

You are saying Blackmon will get no more athletic. Completely inaccurate. His lateral movement will improve.. He will become faster. There is no doubt he will be working on fiber IIx development.

No he will not get any more athletic, but you are correct about his lateral movement and I hope you are right about his defensive skills.

You must be reading the wrong post, dalton was making fun of him not getting taller. You said that I must never have worked out a day in my life. You do not know me, so please, if you do not know what you are talking about you should not open your mouth.

Honestly i don't have the energy to find out if I read something wrong so if I did, my apologies

He doesnt need to be taller just stronger.

1. Lose that stupid ass bull rush to the rim and pull up for the 5 footer.

2.Work on improving his lateral quickness through training.

3.Commit to being the best defensive player he can be.

4.Quit trying for the sports center play and help his team win games.

And do #3 over and over again and again.

#4 applies more to Troy than to JBJ

Man JBJ's getting bashed a lot in this thread.   :(

Thanks for coming to IU Blackmon, take the sophomore step and shut up the haters!

My post doesn't show any signs of bashing or hating.  I am grateful that we have him.

JBJ had some very lofty visions of his freshman season.  When you realize that some of those visions are harsh realities, it can cause a person to get knocked down a bit.  He started off on fire, but when B1G hit, reality set in a little.  I think we will see the best to come in his Sophomore season.

Question will be, how hard has reality set in? And will he be able to over come it mentally? Having a Superb Sophomore campaign will really be up to him. Love to see the kid accept the challenge and get over the fact that he's got some work to do this summer to get to the pros!

Work hard JBJ!!!

A good test of mind and matter.  Only he can do it.

I recall an interview Bob Huggins was giving on television after a game during his UC days, the reporter asked Huggins why some highly regarded offensive player didn't see the floor as much as another less efficient offensive player. Huggins told the reporter the key to basketball is to score more points than your opponent and when the highly rated offensive player learned and developed a desire to play defense he would see a lot more playing time.

Blackmon could learn from the above, the entire team needs to increase their desire to play solid defense. Of course, you need a head coach who is going to mandate everyone is going to play defense and not allow players to take plays off. As much as everyone likes to jump on UK and Cal, Cal has made playing defense a priority and the players have obviously bought into his plan.

Most post's here look like constructive criticism to me but I guess that's not politically correct anymore.

We should just clap a lot and hope things get better.
