AZ Hoosier

Hoetzel to transfer

Recommended Posts

Could have been a really great player here later on. I think his ego got in his way a bit. He wanted more playing time but looked lost and scared when he got out there. He felt he deserved more playing time aka he had some sense of entitlement. He came in as a shooter but like some of our "shooters" in the past, he didn't shoot the ball when he was in the game

I've said 4 man recruiting class all year long. Looks I'm going to be right. Will Max go with his buddy at UNLV?

Problem is if we miss on top targets than we bring in more Prillers and Aprils, just like last year. They better know they can get a real player otherwise we lost a solid one in Max!

Like last year we'll end up scrambling to find warm bodies so we have enough players to keep the dust off the bench.  IMO I don't see any meaningful contributions ever coming from Priller or April.  But I certainly never thought that about Max.

Im hoping this year we will actually look a little more attractive to a few more grad transfers or transfer big men

Max becomes domino #2; can't help but think there's more dominoes to fall.  So Stan leaves and Max leaves and we can again use the excuse next year that "we're a young team".  That phrase is becoming as trite as "yes, I'll still love you in the morning!"

Hey, both are known for their successful use in Btown...

There are plenty of "Prillers" and "Aprils" out there to take a spot for a year. SMH.

YF
JBJ
TW
Thon
Bryant

RJ
NZ
CH
DD
HP

OG
Morgan
Holt

Out: JA, TP, SR, MH

I like that lineup a lot.

My only question would be Nick Z. Does anybody know what his options are? The way I understood is he is going to graduate in 1 year. Can he do a 2nd Grad degree or something?

** If Nick is gone then I would like to see us go after a PG replacement for Yogi.

I'm kind of shocked by this one...

a freshman transferring over lack of playing time is a little odd...

unless you are a superstar, which he isn't.

I think he saw that with who we had coming in, and with DD returning, his sophomore year might trend a little more like Stan's, than it would Troy's.

i think he is better than given credit for. He should of played all Stan's minutes for example.

Oh I think he's going to be great. But when you look at the makeup of our team, I thought he played about what he could have expected coming in. It's not like he tore it up when he played and all the fans were screaming at Crean for him to play more.

99% of the basketball plays I remember him making were AIRBALL three pointers. I wish I was joking on that, but I'm not.

This shouldn't surprise anyone. No impact on the court, super far away from home & family. He's getting out with 3 years left so he has a chance to catch on somewhere else and hopefully grow into a solid player. It's very possible he could have developed into a contributor at IU, but the situation wasn't right. Better get out now than later. I'm sure he'll end up somewhere in California.
