Are we good enough to dance?

Recommended Posts

I think we get in. Probably because of the name on the front of the jersey. Maybe a play in, Maybe not. I do know that there are a few teams solidly in that we have beaten. I also know there will be at least 15 teams in that we would destroy. I guess my point is, if you don't think this is one of the 68 best teams in the country, you're out of your skull.

Guess I should also mention since it is statistically possible. If Auburn beats UK and then beats winner of Georgia/Arkansas they will steal another at-large bid.

I only mention it, because if there is a way for UK to screw IU, I could see this somehow happen.

I know where you're coming from but I just can't root against or hope for a NCAA tournament miss for IU regardless of a longer term solution. The kids out there with Indiana across there chest deserve nothing but our support . I think regardless of this years outcome the powers at be have a plan for coaching and I think it will be a year away. Support the team !

What these kids deserve is a better coach who will put them in better positions to succeed. IOW, not being on the bubble just 6-7 weeks after being ranked.

I said before this skid that we would not make it, some called me crazy. It is just so hard to live/die by the three with no bigs. To me, the crazy thing is, if they got in, they could get hot and beat a team or two that maybe they shouldn't. But if they play cold, they could get beat really bad by a fundamentally sound mid or small school with a good big man.

I have heard the argument repeatedly that we have "4 wins against rpi top 50 teams". While true, we have also had a ton of chances to beat those teams, 13 chances. Is batting less than .333 against top 50 teams really a great argument? To me its not much to hang your hat on. I know the committee doesn't formally factor in the last 10 games anymore, but they would be lying if they said the way teams play down the stretch don't have some influence on their perceptions. Its 50/50 for this team.

I think that will take care of itself without hoping for failure of the team to make the NCAA Tournament .

Too many thought beating a bad NW team was a big accomplishment. I said tonite would tell the tale.

we played well enough to win in my opinion, but some questionable calls and some missed fts killed us

Good enough? These last two games say yes. I believe our decent record and 4 wins against RPI top 50 validates us, and these last two games lets us pass the eye test. I think we're in without a play-in.

4 wins, 9 losses down the stretch. 0 of those wins against a tourney team. That doesn't pass many tests

Northwestern doesnt count. They stink. Kept their streak alive of never making the dance. Might give you the "eye test" vs Maryland though not sure what that means. IMO we are hoping those 4 top 50 wins are enough and maybe more important that no other teams steal a bid.

You're right but what really jumps out about that is that we've also lost 66% of games against top 50 as well.
